Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

  • Good truck for family of 4 - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

The truck is not to big or too small. I travel mostly by myself, so having a full size truck would be a waste. The Colorado drives really nice & quiet! I had an S-10 with v6 (1999) and this truck runs circles around it. Gas mileage on highway, up & down hills is about 21-22mpg. In town about 19-20. So far no problems. The only problem I see thats out there, is the price of these trucks (Toyotas, Fords, Dodges etc.). Its out of control!

Ive waited all year to buy this truck. Well worth the wait, its a lot of fun to drive. Plenty of power and the best look on the road of any truck in its class.

This truck rides great. Plenty of power in all conditions. I bring a motorcycle to the track every weekend and the bed has plenty of room for two dirt bikes. Although I am going to get two extra tie downs instaled on the bed rails. I also tow a boat and it seems to tow great. The big tires with the smooth power makes it easy to tow my 3500 lb boat out of bad ramps in the Fla keys.

I was a full-size truck owner looking for something a bit smaller and easier on gas. The Colorado fits the bill. Much easier to park in the Walmart parking lot not to mention my garage. The box might be small for some people but I can get at the things in the back without climbing in. I pull a double ATV trailer and a utility trailer with ease. The 4000# load range is more than enough for my needs. The cab has room enough for four adults and is much more comfortable than my 2002 extended cab GMC Seirra.

The only problem I have encountered is the location of the door locks. They tend to be easily activated while exiting the vehicle on both the passenger and drivers side. There is an alarm when they are activated but Im sure I will be locked sooner or later.

Great to tow the boat and a beautiful day or just driving to work.

  • Colorado good for compact truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

No problems for a compact truck. It has good low end pickup, is fairly comfortable on long trips, an Im pleasently suprised at the good gas mileage. The truck is used in my courier business, and am pleased so far.

I previsouly had a ford ranger and now currently a colorado, I like the colorado a lot better in some ways. I have the 3.5 I-5 liter which has more power than my previous 4.0 V6 The towing capacity is lower than that of my ranger. overall I am happy with the truck. The colorado handles turns very well.

very poor fit of both front doors an hood. right front door outside door handle was never tightened

  • Great little truck - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I have found the truck to be just what I wanted. It has a smooth comfortable ride with excellent gas milage. It offers the comfort and gas milage of an automobile yet leaves me the option of using it as a truck. I dont have the need for a large truck but wanted something that would allow me the option of hauling a larger load than an auto and yet have something better than an SUV for gas milage. I also wanted a vehicle that rode smooth and handled well. This vehicle fit the bill. Its just a fun vehicle to drive.
