Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

a great all around truck, great fuel mileage, the 5 cyclinder is a fantastic engine all the power needed for daily driving. the only complaint i have is with the tires on the Z 85 model, my truck picks up a lot of small gravel in the tire tread, i have numerous rock chips from the gravel flying out at road speeds.

If you dont want a full size truck, this is a nice little truck. I love the way this truck looks, especially the front end. The interior could use a little improvement. Seats are comfy, but just not too much going on inside,(too much plastic). No complaints about the 2.8L engine. Its nice and smooth, and has plenty of power to get around. Exhuast note is little funny though. 5 speed is very smooth. A lot more room than my previously owned Ranger. Overall a good little truck for a good price.

This is a great truck to drive. It is comfortable and rides like an SUV. This truck is a nice in between sized model. It is bigger then old S-10 style but smaller then the 1500 series. The 3.5 5 cylinder motor is well matched to this truck. It offers great power as well as good fuel economy.

No problems, plenty of get up and go. Just carried a load of sand and mulch with no problems. Engine runs smooth. Nothing fancy, just a nice little truck. About $4K less than a Tacoma. MPG 17-21, with very little highway driving. Time will tell if it will last the 8-10 years I keep my vehicles.

  • Mid-size blues.... - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Overall, a good truck if small/mid- size meets your needs. I downsized from a Siverado--after the honeymoon of a new truck wore off, I wished that I kept the Silverado. For me, the 3.5L is underpowered. Its great around town--not pulling a trailer or without a load. Otherwise, youve got the keep the RPMs pegged to retain any sense of power. A lot of plastic on this truck--it looks great on the showroom floor but quickly dulls. The truck drives good--especially off- road. However, the 4WD/Z71 suspension is a little rough and dicey at times in the urban jungle--probably due to high center of gravity and short wheel base. Great sport truck--poor work truck.

Drives well. Nimble for its weight. Interior is quiet.

I took my truck from Seattle to So. Cali. to visit family. Yes I had to cross the mountains which according to the gotta have V6 / V8s fans said the Colorado was very poor on power. I was more than very pleased to find this little 5 cyl was truely much more powerful then I thought. The gas mileage was also very good on this long trip averaging for the total trip mid 22 MPG. Overall comfort was quite nice considering I was driving a 4WD truck. The interior is just about the same as the rest of the trucks out there, not very exciting. Then for a few dollars I can have the interior trim peices painted to brighten things up.

I was time for a new vehicle and I had been planning on an S-10 crew cab. I was very excited to see a replacement for the S-10 in the very stylish Colorado. I was extremely pleased at the reasonable price and variety of options. The chromatic mirror with temp and direction made my day.

So far it seems to be a real solid truck. The I-5 engine seems to have enough power and the gas mileage is not bad. The heighth of the seats to cause a difficult view when passing but otherwise seams to be a solid truck.
