Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

It has a 5 cylinder engine. The best mileage to date is 16.1 on pure interstate driving at 65 miles per hour. The 19.5 gallon gas tank leaves me wondering Why? With only a 300 mile driving range I am constantly having to visit the Gas Station. The exterior is very eye catching but here begins the lack of quality. The hood has provisions for insulation but it is missing and not offered. The doors leak wind noise and sometimes even water. Hoses, cables and tubes routed ender the truck are installed with no attention to detail and bang against the under side. The inner fender wells lack fasteners and rattle. The endless use of bare plastic in the interior also adds to rattles.

Ive had my Colorado just about a year and it has been EXCELLENT! The truck went back to the dealer for a loose electrical connector to the emissions system and hasnt been back other than oil changes and a tire rotation. This truck is still very impressive. There are no squeaks or rattles, with over 20K on the clock. The I5 performs nicely. Its not a tire burner, but there is plenty of oomph when needed It pulls my horse trailer with no problems and performs predictably with a full load in the bed. Handling is excellent, as it is better than a few cars I have owned. My Orange Sunburst Chevy still turns heads and looks great. Id still pick it over a 2005 Toyota or Nissan.

I have the Z-85 extended cab.It is a great truck. The I-5 cyclinder 220 hp is really gutsy. If your looking for a mid size truck, this is the one for you.As you can see i love everything about this truck. The S-10 is no match for this one. This is a real cruiser.Check out my ratings.

A fun small truck, with plenty of get up and go with the 5 cyl engine. Tows a 2000 lb boat with ease! The drivers seat feels a little off center, especially with a little back support cranked in. Everything easily within drivers reach. A real nice thing to have would be radio controls on the steering wheel! Pushing 20 MPG on the highway at 60MPH, dropping steadily as speed increases. The dash panel cover just looks cheap.

  • One of the WORST vehicles I ever owned - 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

As I write this, the truck is back in the repair shop AGAIN. Problem with the air conditioner freezing up...and in Georgia, the AC is a MUST. Have had the truck for 8 months. AC froze up last year and they replaced parts and thought it was repaired. But, this season we are back to the same problems as last year. We are also experiencing the same problems as others with the vehicle shuddering as you try to accelerate while already moving. Of course this is after you press down on the accelerator and nothing happens...until it downshifts and throws you back in your seat. Really not impressed with the gas mileage either. Small truck with 6 cyl should do better. Thought about trading it in on a full sized truck...Best offer is $6,000 less than we paid. If you really want a small truck, the interior and features are nice...but if you want performance GO BIG. We are extremely unhappy with the reliability of this vehicle.......UPDATE: We dumped this vehicle. Totally UNRELIABLE.

I used to be an S-10 owners, but went Ford/Mazda for 10 years. lots of interior head and leg room. I can really notice the 220 ponies, but the torque is a little lower than my 4.0L Mazda. I wont be pushing the truck to its limits so this is entirely acceptable. four wheel drive engages very smooth and quietly, and the General tires on it perform excellent in the snow. The engine is virtually silent, and has plenty of power for my uses. An occasional load of dirt or lumber, or towing walleye boat. Overall this truck is a perfect fit for my needs with pleanty of power and more than adequate torque.

  • Fun little truck - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I first looked at the truck in the new truck line catalog. I liked what I saw as my daughter wanted her own window and door to open. It is the perfect little truck for small home improvment jobs as well as anything else.
