Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

  • Like a Rock! Z71 Colorado - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Plain and simple truck inside. No problems with layout of panels and radio. Outside looks great. Rough and ready. Just to give you an idea. I was leaving work and I witnessed a gentlemen standing in the parking lot saying as I pulled out "Nice looking truck"! Chevy got it right with this truck. You cant go wrong. I couldnt pass up the employee pricing and got a loaded Z71, AT, 4 dr crew cab. You cant be the MPG. I am getting 20 in town and 23 on the hiway.

  • Looks Good, Runs Good, But Bad Fan - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
    By -

I love the Chevy Colorado for its fuel economy and stylish exterior. However, my fan only runs on high. The other 3 speeds dont do a thing. It wasnt purchased like this, but seems to be a manufacturer defect. Three months ownership and 3 trips to have the fan repaired. The Chevy Colorado loses much of its sportiness with this problem.

  • Very Good Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I got the Z85 LS automatic with the I5 engine. The truck is very useful. Lots of room on the inside for the 4 door crew cab. Very attactive appearance. You can beat this truck for the money. I would have spent a good bit more on a Dakota.

  • My Colorado - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I enjoy driving my Colorado very much. I used to have a Ranger. It handles real good and has pretty good gas mileage, which we need here in Southern California. I like the feel of a midsize car, but the looks of a truck.

  • First New Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I purchased this truck after having a 1991 Nissan Ext Cab 2WD and it is great. I average 22 MPG, mostly on the highway. I use the OnStar to run fire/EMS calls to find addresses. I love it. I may make aftermarket changes for performance, but its great right off the lot.

  • Great truck, great mileage - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
    By -

I purchased the truck after much research. Wanted the utility of a truck, something that could tow a 16ft boat, yet had acceptable mileage. I have had the truck for a month, and love it. I have put 4000 miles on it, and routinely get 25+ mpg (even with the 5 cyl). I have seen others complaining about the mileage, but dont know what differential they have, and recommend at least the 3.73, and I have the 3.42. The ride and acceleration are excellent, even compared to the car I was driving before. The steering is a bit soft in tight turns, but no worse than any other trucks I have owned. Overall, I couldnt find a better deal out there.

  • Everybody makes mistakes - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

After 18,000 miles and 3 General tire failures, a new set of Goodyears were recently put on. I still get a vibration between 45 & 65 mph. The airconditioning failed and it took a week to fix. Front bucket seat is uncomfortable. Very little leg support. My elbows are raw from the lack of padding on arm rest and center console.

  • Good Purchase - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Aggresive styling makes the new Chevy Colorado a perfect purchase for the midsize truck consumer. It is simply laid out for ease and functionality. I deffinately like the Crew Cab Z71 for a daily driver.

  • colorado compared to s-10 - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
    By -

The colorado is an excellant truck. i owned a 2001 s-10 before and i couldnt fit into it anymore, and the 4 cylander engine had no power. if the a/c was on forget about going anywhere fast. the colorado has fixed all the s-10s problems and improved on the good too. i would definately buy another one.
