Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

Is a four speed automatic tranny ext cab lt 2007 - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By fallingdown2 - April 10 - 3:39 amI bought the truck new in 2007 and I just cant say Ive had any engine probs at all. I have changed the rotors and brake pads. Also the rear shocks and have been problem free otherwise. A few minor issues such as tail lights and a broken emergency brake handle but thats all. It now has 140,000 miles on it and has never had a tune up. I changed the plugs myself. It hasnt cost me a cent mechanically ...yet.

Very Surprised.. And Happy with my Colorado - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By colorred - April 7 - 11:31 amI bought my Colorado used with only 48K miles on the OD. Ive doubled that and it still runs like a top. Ill admit I was a bit of a skeptic but saw some positive reviews and Im glad I took the chance. The inline 5 is a great engine, though not overly powerful it suits my needs perfectly. The crew cab has lots of comfortable space. So far (knock on wood) Ive only performed regular maintenance and it hasnt required any repair needs. I keep the brake pads changed perhaps a little more often than normal as I was told new rotor replacements will be big bucks. They werent designed to be changed easily.

DO NOT BUY THIS TRUCK - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By chevysucks1 - February 21 - 5:07 pmThe Chevy Colorado is an electrical nightmare. If you are considering buying this truck, leave the dealership immediately, and go buy a horse. This truck is complete garbage. The blower works, sometimes, the lights work, sometimes, the radio works, sometimes, and its all stems from GM having a terrible electrical system. I have read forums with people having these issues with the Colorado of any year. So, GM obviously doesnt care enough to fix the issues their vehicles have considering the electrical systems they install have been worthless for over a decade with no recalls. I would recommend buying from any other manufacturer.

Very Dissapointed - 2011 Chevrolet Colorado
By nickb85 - January 17 - 2:37 pmAfter having 2 friends buying colorados and the good review i went and bought a new one in august 2011. I just bought the lt1 2wd with auto trans. For first month everything was great. Then when starting truck it would spit and sputter until it made this weird vacuum noise. took to dealer and they put new parts on and still didnt help. Then my turn signal switch started messing up. Last but not least when starting it makes a bad chain dragging noise that we have yet to figure out. this happened with less then 4k miles and i keep extra good care of my vehicles. Looking to trade in for a import truck. my 95z28 with 130k miles has no problems. but a new truck has a lot. I wouldnt buy again.

Great Truck - 2012 Chevrolet Colorado
By oldschool14 - December 13 - 6:58 pmSo far this has been a great truck. It handles very well, rides decent for a 4X4 and its gas mileage is good for a 4x4. It also looks better than its competition but that is a matter of personal preference. Some of the reviews dont really reflect this is a truck for its intended purpose and not a car. Excellent 4X4 capabilities.

Surprised - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By jmatt360 - October 8 - 9:47 amI bought this truck used and was kinda hesitant about its performance. After driving for awhile I was really impressed. Drove it 360 miles in one weekend and got great gas mileage. Estimated about 27 mpg with a load of furniture on the back. Sure it gets more without furniture. Loved the handling of it through Altanta traffic. Would recommend it to anyone interested in a mid - size truck.

Good truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By coloradoguy615 - September 26 - 1:31 pmI own a 2005 Colorado Z71 LS Crew. She looks great and handles amazing. Cant say too much about the interior (very bland, but does the job). Ive owned her for about a year now and Ive only had to replace the brakes. For buying the thing with 100k miles and putting 19k on in 11 months its very surprising. She handles great on and off road. Plenty of power in the I5. I wouldnt pass the 2005 model year up for any reason. Looks better than the 2012 IMO. I drove a Dodge for 10 years and a 1999 F150 for 6 years. Ive been a loyal ford guy my whole life, this truck changed me to a chevy guy. Good truck, cheap to fix, easy to maintain.

loving it!! - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By dirty_mike - September 17 - 9:04 amBought my 2008 colorado used , have not looked back, the 4 cylinder has enough power to pull a 14ft boat or load of wood in the back well.(I dont haul large loads/thats why I bought the 4 popper) the extended cab has enough room for me and my two children in the back 6 and 4. only complain I have is GET a spray in bedliner along the bottom of the panels, for some reason the tires stick out just enough to kick stones at the truck. So outside that con, if you want 4x4 light towing payload/fun to drive/and not bad gas mielage(20 city 25-26 highway)this is hands down a good buy.

28k miles after 6kmiles hard road trip - 2012 Chevrolet Colorado
By schooby - September 14 - 11:18 pmI bought this 2012 Chevy Colorado with the 3.7 liter 5 used with 21,000 miles. I then took it on a 6,000 mile road trip this September 2012 thru 22 states. From Charleston South Carolina, to Great Falls Montana to Parker Arizona back to Charleston. The Last leg of the trip from AZ to SC I towed a 2000 Dodge Dakota single cab with a frame hitch behind my Colorado. throughout the entire trip the truck ran excellent. Before towing the Dodge I averaged 24.5 MPG highway at about 75 MPH. Towing the Dodge I managed 15-19 MPG. driving up the continentual divides in both Arizona and New Mexico I was able to maintain a steady speed of 70 MPH while towing. The truck would run at about 2500 RPM.
