Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

Nice tight package - bum interior - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By buckeyebubba - November 15 - 5:26 pmIm moving toward 3 months and 3,000 miles and as you might expect there are both positives and negatives. The truck is indeed very smooth and provides a certain amount of confidence on unpredictable winter road surfaces. Road imperfections from ice and snow are absorbed with aplomb. More importantly the brakes are excellent so far. Since GMs track record with brakes is not good Ill try not to worry too much about what to expect. Engine performance is outstanding and the transmission is unparalleled. With excellent acceleration, shifting, and braking its fun and effortless to drive. Note that I have the 5 cylinder with automatic. The interior is the major negative

I love my truck! - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Leah - November 4 - 7:24 pmBefore deciding to make the jump from fun car (my Mustang) to a small truck I did a lot of research on what was out there. The Colorado kept coming out on top, so when I went "shopping" I saved the Chevy lot until last. I found the Colorado to be the best built and best looking of all the trucks I looked at and drove. 3 months down the road I am as pleased today with the truck as the day I bought it, and with the dealership that sold it to me. I highly recommend the Colorado, and to those of you near Troy, Ohio Joe Johnson Chevrolet. (I have the 4WD Z71 Extended Cab LS package in Superior Blue, its a beauty!)

Sharp Ride - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Steve - November 3 - 5:23 pm5 cylinder has plenty of power, along with great fuel economy. The styling of this truck is awesome, people love it. Recieve plenty of compliments and looks. Has potential for upgrades. Handles great. Very comfortable to drive, but still is defintly a truck. The 5 cylinder engine runs smooth. Engine does not feel like it is less than a V6, actually feels better. Transmission shifts good. Very pleased with this truck, much better than the S-10. Nice JOB GM!!

Dont buy it - 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
By Ben Kitt - November 3 - 12:34 amI bought my truck new from Jerrys Chevy in Baltimore and the truck (with only 20,600 miles) has already had several issues that had to be fixed. While they are covered they are still problems that shouldnt be there! There is a loud whistling that is unfixable according to GM! DO NOT BUY THIS TRUCK. It is a trap. The one good thing is that it has good resale value and the 4x4 is awesome.

Finally a change - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By kcidmil - October 23 - 2:34 pmWhile the truck does get decent mileage, it fails in comparison to my former 02 Frontier 2wd. This is mostly due to the larger tires installed on vehicle. I can say I do have fun though driving the truck despite the even lowering gas needle. And the exterior design is one that makes people turn to look again. And after seeing many different truck from Chevy over the years, Im glad to see a interior dash change. It was sad to see a brand new 1500 have the same dash as the company truck built back in 96. The power band seems lacking at the low end. Though I feel this is due to the larger tires. The truck is perfect for my daily driving back and forth to work. Overall I am happy with it.

so far so good - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By garyrush2112 - October 21 - 10:00 amhad the truck about a month. i have 1500 miles on it and i have not 1 complaint. my right front headlight wasnt attached correctly but i took care of that.so far i am at 20.5 mpg . the rock that hit my windshielsd at 200 miles bummed me out but what can ya do. i previosly read all the reviews on this site and the only "complaint"i kind of agree with is that the gas n brake pedals could be a little farther apart.road noise is not an issue,i was driving a mustang and it was 10 times worse. mine is a z71 4x4 and of course the ride will be stiff on a bumpy road.bucket seats are very comfortable.SO FAR SO GOOD

My Colorado Review - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By charles bailey - October 21 - 10:00 amBasically, when I started, I was looking for a used truck, and was willing to spen no more than $15,000. I was at Cooper Chevrolet in Anniston, Alabama, in the used car section, when I saw this base truck listed for $16,200. I asked if I could drive it, they said yes, and it was a love affair from then on. This truck has a real strong engine, vortec 2800 and gets great gas mileage (24 to 25 mpg). I am glad I bought this new truck, although it was a little more than I could afford, it is worth it. The build is a little cheap, but it is one solid tough truck.

Chevy is back on top - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By The Oz - October 17 - 6:24 pmI live in Hawaii and it does outstanding on the hills. It is the perfect size. It fits all the needs of a full size truck, yet it is not too big to fit in smaller areas. It has a tight suspension. I take 4 buddies to lunch occasionally and they all fit fine. As a matter of fact, one of them is thinking of trading in his new vehicle for the same type truck. It has plenty of interior luxuries, yet it is still made for some roughness. The perfect vehicle!
