Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

I love this truck. Its perfect for driving around town. I am getting at least 20.9 miles in the city and about 28 on the highway. This truck also has a lot of room in it. Im 60 tall and have to move the seat up just to reach the pedals.

I love my Colorado! It looks good, drives nice, 25 mpg highway with a 3.5 engine, I like the power, comfertable ride, and it is a very solid feeling truck. I dont know of another truck I would rather have at this time. Three adults in the back bench seat without being to crouded. Just like the commercial! Problem free going onto 14,000 miles The only thing I found is that it has problems with icy roads whith wind. 50mph off the road into a farm field with the rear in a drain ditch, no harm done! Any vehicle is going to have problems on ice, so I cant bring the truck down for that. Great truck at a good value, just take it slow on ice.

  • Uncomfortable ride - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I purchased my Colorado as a replacement for my S10. As a long time Chevrolet customer I was very disappointed in the ride. My standard cab seat is very uncomfortable to the point I have been trying to trade or get rid of it already. My backs taking a beating. Other than poor ride it seems to handle good and has been dependable. I sought help from the dealer and from Chevrolet without relief. Factory said too bad thats the way its made and there is no defect. Looking for something else

  • Needs to be a full size - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Chevy did a great thing with making the new ColoradoÂ’s to replace the S-10s. I love my Colorado but after a year there is only one thing I regret about buying it. I wish I had got a full sized Silverado. I love the body style of the Colorado and the full size of the Silverado. If Chevy wants to make another smart decision they need to make the 2007 or 2008 Silverado with the same exterior design as the ColoradoÂ’s. My next vehicle I buy will be a Silverado. I only hope by time I get it the Silverado does

  • Honest Truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

This truck is the honest to goodness daily driver. I have an 06 z71 4x4 automatic with factory locker rear diff. Replaced stock tires with 30x9.5x15 Wrangler silent armor tires. Off road trail fun is unbelievable. Truck in first gear engine idle will climb any hill muddy, rocky, or treachous breakover angle scenarios. Idle gives you enough power to do virtually anything reasonably so just keep on the brakes :) On street this truck is nimble and comfortable. Very svelte ride on or off road. No problems with hauling 1 ton trailer, its unnoticeable until 3 or 4 gear.

Starts right up at 20 below 0. Rides good. I will buy another one soon. Family and friends like it very much. Rides like a car on the interstate. Had no trouble going in snow .

  • First Chevrolet Truck Experience - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I received this truck in May as a company vehicle, and since picking it up new, it has 25,000 miles on it. Ive experienced only one problem with this vehicle - the coating on the radio buttons chips off, exposing the white plastic behind. All in all, the quality has been un-like that of any other American car Ive ever driven. Its solid, well designed, the interior is well executed, and its extremely quiet. I do find the driver and passenger seats extremely uncomfortable however - all though its a truck, and sits up high, the seats are essentially on the floor - leaving me with my knees in my chest when driving. Perhaps making all seats power would fix this??

  • Well... - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Considering that my previous car was a 1996 Saturn SL with 202k miles, this was a definite step up. This is a nice size beginner truck that I got at a wonderful price. It handles and rides nicely. However, I have had numerous problems that required 1 minor engine rebuild and two half engine rebuilds. Yikes! Got another problem fixed today. GM threw an additional 75K Major Guard at me, so I am happy. My friends 2K5 Nissan Frontier Crew is an overall nicer vehicle - it has the track system in the truck bed, better interior lighting, sunroof availability and more power. Mpg on Colorado is nice, though. I like my truck a lot, but if I "knew then what I know now", I wouldnt have bought it.

  • Fun in Florida - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Ive had the truck for about 6 months now and it is awesome! The 3.5L is worth the money... if you like performance and fuel economy, that is. My city and 80mph highway driving continually averages better than 20mpg. This is good for me because I have a lead foot. The A/C is cold, and cools quickly (and I live in Miami). It looks very, very much like a Honda inside, and classy with silver accents, which is to say better than a Honda. Maybe Im easily pleased - go to a dealer and see for yourself. Im trying to think of something bad to say about it.... (nothing yet).

I love this truck! It isnt perfect, but I find myself wanting to drive it constantly which is contrary to my (normal) desire to conserve gas. Anyway, it is very quiet, smooth and a pleasure to drive. My first tank of gas netted 21 MPG and should go up after the break-in period. Even though it has good power, I find myself cruising at moderate speeds as the temptation to drive fast is not there. Its just plain fun to drive in a relaxed manner. I did kick it up once to see what the "bean counters/lawyers" limited the top speed. It "nosed over" at 98 MPH, but it got there damned quickly!
