Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

2005 Colorado- Not what I expected - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Terri McGinnis - April 29 - 9:31 amFuel mileage less than expected with 5 engine. I have had too many issues for a new truck. The air conditioning is not very strong, air flow. The interior is very cheap, and cheap looking. The cloth on the front seat is puffing up, of course it is still under warranty, but the whole reason to purchase a new vehicle, is so you dont have to go in for repairs. The truck is not at all what I was expecting. Very disspointed in the truck.

My Experience - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Tommy - April 19 - 5:08 pmSince I have had this truck I have loved it. It feels more comfortable than my old F250 that I traded in and the fuel economy is much better. I have made it from Stow, Ohio to Roanoke, Virginia on half a tank of gas. The truck runs smooth and quiet, you can really feel the power of the engine as well with all of the pick up and go. Since I have had the truck I have had the bed lined with Line-X and I have added a class 3 hitch to pull a pop-up camper and my boat. Even when towing the truck has shown no problems. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a good mid size truck today.

First truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Peter - April 17 - 7:25 pmActually I own the 5 cyl. version. (not a listed option on this review). Im enjoying the leg room and simple but user friendly controls. I considered the Silverado but didnt really need the big truck size or heavy expense at the pump. Its got the typical peppy GM engine/transmission and makes for a fun Sunday afternoon drive or ride to work. It has a surprising amount of back seat room for two adults. Im getting 21.5 MPG combined city/highway driving. Ive gotten a lot of compliments on the appearance of my cherry red Colorado.

Little truck, big performance - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By cbc - April 13 - 7:57 pmWith 30,000 miles around the corner I still get a smile on my face when I drive my Colorado. I drive 35 miles one to work so it pays to have a good looking truck that gets a 24 mpg average and comfortable too. Reliabilty isnt a worry for me because it just feels like a solid little truck.

Z85 CrewCab - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By NewColy - April 12 - 12:44 pmI have ~15,000 miles on my 05 Crew Cab 3.5L/auto (build date 5/2005).Comfort and ride is far better. Fuel economy is excellent, summer months I get 18-20 city, 23-24.5 city, winter months are 17- 18 city, 22-23.4 hwy.,17-18 city or hwy towing a double jet-ski trailer(1300lbs total). The stock I5/auto is a little underpowered for a crewcab. The two downfalls I have encountered are fuel economy and power is diminished greatly with any tire change other than stock size and brand. There are too many TSBÂ’s for this truck. It is literally a hit or miss purchase. I would suggest buying a vehicle built after 6/2005, if not, negotiate for the 100k extended warranty. All in all I am very happy with my purchase.

Shes A Keeper - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By tonkatruk - April 10 - 1:20 pmIve owned my crew Z71 for a little over 2 years now, havent experienced problem one to date. Its funny because my wife has a Sequoia that she just had to have, purchased it before I bought my truck. 9 times out of 10 if shes running out for an errand she grabs my keys! With a daughter just beginning to drive guess whos vehicle she constantly wants to take as well. I may be needing to buy another one here in the near future, hope they put one out soon with a 6 cylinder, that would make my day. Im getting about 21.7 MPG on the highway with a full crew in it, not too bad for a crew pick-up. Love the Z71 stance, feels big ... without the cost of driving big. Kudos to Chevy on this one.

Good Midsize Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By adamp*diddy - April 3 - 8:07 amI was looking for a decent midsize truck when I stumbled across my Colorado. I had not seen one before and mine had just rolled off the tractor trailer. I test drove it with the plastic still on the seat. I have had almost no issues with it at all. It handles all the work I throw at it. Dont let the 5 cylinder put you off. It has get up and go. Good truck I would buy another one.

Excellent all around truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Bob Wood - April 2 - 5:31 pmTraded in a Silverado for the Colorado. The Silverado had a much nicer interior and more hauling capacity as well as a nicer ride. But the Colorado looks great (got the red monochromatic package), and also got 4 wheel drive for the same price as my 2 wheel Silverado. Also gets much better gas mileage and has more room for the kids than the large pickup extended cabs. Just which Chevy has spent more on the interior materials.

2005 Colorado - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By shane crumpton - March 22 - 2:06 pmFuel mileage less than expected with I- 5 engine. Ride is good on hi-way, power is good for 5-cyl. The nterior lacks style, has has too much gray. Front tires are worn on inside after 18K overall a good truck. Needs a better sound system.
