Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

The best ever! - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Kevin - June 6 - 6:23 pmThis truck kicks butt compared to the Fords I used to always buy brand new. I had way too many concerns early on in the life of the trucks. This has held up very well and does everything I want it to. Plus the Customer Assistance Center is awesome- they help you out any way possible.

Great "little" truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By RandyG - June 5 - 3:03 amThis is my first pickup after many years in an SUV. The crew cab has plenty of room for kids and adults alike. The truck bed gets more storage than I ever had in any SUV. I loaded my Colorado up with almost every option and still spent almost 10K less than the middle and high end suvs. The truck has also performed great in the big snow storms weve had in the northeast this winter.

Chevrolet Colorado - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By robert bunyard - June 1 - 5:34 pmThe vehicle is OK to drive, but doesnt have an ashtray or cigarette light. The power is OK as far as gas mileage goes, but not very powerful performance wise. Im getting 24 mpg in town and 27 on the freeway, so it is better than expected. Also wish there were larger cup holders and more space behind the seat.

The skinny on the Colorado - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Ryan - May 30 - 1:38 pmThe Colorado rides like a full size and is as comfortable in every way as any truck on the market. With power everything and plenty of power in the 3.5 L 5 cyl for your everyday hauling and stop and go traffic it leaves one wondering....why didnt anyone think of the 5 cyl before? I like the lines on the body, they are simple and catch the eye with its square ends. This truck is almost exactly like the Slverado in cosmetics, and it is perfect for the anti-suv population who still want to haul the kids and the u-haul, with comparable fuel economy.

first new truck - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By Sandi D - May 23 - 10:00 amI really like my truck. I have the Z85 with the I-5 engine(which wasnt an option when filling out this form). However, its not as comfortable to drive on long trips as I expected. The lumbar support hits me about 4 inches too high. Also, if you plan on using a childs car seat in the back of the extended cab (using the jump seats) try your car seat before you buy!!! My daughters car seat hangs off the jump seat by about 60%, which makes me relucatant to put her in the back. Unfortunately, I cant use the front seat because there is no airbag over- ride.

By dk52552 - May 23 - 10:00 amRide is like a car. I have the Z-71 package. We have taken it on a 1800mile trip and it performed great in all driving conditions. We averaged 23 mpg on trip.

Junkyard dog - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By GoldRider - May 19 - 8:50 pmUsually when I purchase a car I go in knowning that I am going to get stuck some kind of way. But after I get the car I usually get over getting the shaft because I enjoyed the car so much. Not this case, the Chevy Colorado is a junk mans dream. I have ridden in wheel barrows that ride better. And I would love to meet the engineer who put the gas and brake peddle so close together that my foot actually got caught in the controls. I gave my Colorado a quicky divorce and married the Chevy Impala SS. That is a match made in heaven. Downside the trade in value of the Colorado was so low I was way upside down.

Walked Away Safely - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By Mike Griggs - May 11 - 9:47 amOn May 7, 2006, I was in a crash that involved my Colorado. I hit water and lost control and totaled my truck. After the fact, you could not recognize that it was a Colorado, but the fact remained I walked away from the accident with only a mild concusion. Its design, I think, was the main reason Im still alive today. Thanks Chevy.

Great Value - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Kevin Thompson - May 8 - 10:34 pmAfter looking at all the import and domestic small trucks we chose the 4 door Colorado. It was the best value for the dollar. We have owned the car for 3 months and have driven the car 8200 miles now. Zero problem, great fuel mileage and very comfortable. My son needs a car so I think we are going to go with another Chevy.

A Total Lemon - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Matt - May 1 - 6:30 amI bought my Colorado brand new, and have had nothing but trouble with it. Its died on me twice, I continue to have problems with the cd player. The AC squeals like a stuck pig, plastic molding had warped, carpeting comes up in chunks of fuzz. Ive had problems with the ignition switch, airbag sensor, cruise control light, and interior paneling. The interior is of very cheap material and reeks of poor design. Its a sharp looking truck, and when its not in the shop it drives and handles ok. Unless youre a die hard Chevy fan, Id advise you to look elsewhere for a truck. Based on my experience with this, Ill never buy another Chevy truck.
