Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

Fun to Drive! - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Jack - July 14 - 12:10 amI really enjoy driving this truck. It sits higher than the S-10 I had previously, and the ride is much smoother. My only disappointment is locally I only average about 14 to 15 mpg. However, I average 22 mpg on the highway. The crew cabs back seat is great, providing comfortable seating for adults! The bed is shorter than my previous truck, but still large enough to haul 4 by 8 sheets of plywood with the tailgate set in the 57 degree position. I also love the locking tailgate, which is a great idea since the tailgate is also removeable.

Underrated truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Dave - July 11 - 7:23 pmAfter much research I decided to get a loaded Colorado crew cab. I have owned Pathfinders and Jeeps and this truck is just as tough. Its getting 20 mpg right out of the box, and the I-5 is smooth and powerful. I know, I just towed my 5600 lbs. Sea Ray 40 miles to the Lake.

Nice Truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Mark - July 9 - 9:49 amThis truck was compared to a Tacoma, Frontier and Dakota. While there are some features that are inferior to the aforementioned trucks (ie interior quality) the massive rebates and deals make the purchase of this truck the best bang for the buck. For city livers this truck provides more than enough utility and the interior is far rommier than ever expected (actually similar to our GX470!). I highly rec the Z71 package as it adds alot to the appearance and clearance.

Real rough ride - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By tim danaher - July 8 - 12:16 amThis is the extreme package lowered frame. Need a kidney belt between 60 and 72 MPH. Severice dept says it is because of the extended cab and the lowered suspension. It gives me motion sickness to drive more than 30 or so miles.

Its a Great Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By truckdriver - July 6 - 1:03 amThe 5cyl/5spd Z85/LS Reg Cab more than fills the need for a mid-sized, inexpensive, tow capable truck. The LS version is the best value, having several nice addl features. Ride is excellent. Concerning comments about the Chevy dash: its a truck not a Bentley. Who wants to spend big bucks for a fancy dash? The dash is simple, functional, and durable. Furthermore, the Chevy dash is better than the competing Toyota dash because it is smooth all across the bottom. The Toyota has obnoxious protrusions all over the place. The 5cyl is surprisingly powerful and worth the extra fee. Visibility is great; ride is excellent (for a truck).Silky smooth clutch, great shifter.

A very sweet truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Andrew - June 26 - 2:16 amThis is my first vehicle, and I leased a 4WD Z71 crew. Its finished in victory red and has chrome pipe steps and the locking hard tonneau cover. The truck is VERY sharp looking and I get plenty of comments on how sharp it is. It is easily the best looking pickup in the segment right now. The I5 engine sounds so good when you rev it up. Its so unique. The transmission is flawless and shifts very well. Ratios are well chosen for a 4-speed auto. The 220hp is great when you tromp the pedal from 40mph. It downshifts into first and will rev up to 6000 until you hit 50mph! This thing really tachs out and revs nicely. I am very pleased with this truck and I would gladly buy another.

Colorado Review - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Rinasg - June 24 - 11:40 pmThis roomy little truck drives smoothly and saves me a lot on gas. I can haul my sons gokart around with no problem. I can seat up to six people comfortably and I get many compliments on its good looks.

Pleasently Surprised - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Bob777 - June 24 - 12:03 pmI have not had a GM product for some time and Ive heard what seem to be a lot of negative things about GM cars, but the Colorado seemed to meet my needs the best at this time, so I got it. It has about 5K miles on it now and I have to say the build quality is quite good and the gas mileage is great. I get 28 MPG on the road and 24 MPG in town with a bit of Highway driving. Mileage seems to be gettng better with additional miles. My previous trucks were a Nissan Frontier and Ford ranger. Both were good trucks, but this Chevy is better. Id would recommend this truck for anyone that wants a small truck with good mileage and comfort. Get the 3.73 gears if you plan to get a 4 cyl.

Still Spectacular - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By PeteM143 - June 21 - 7:29 pmAnyone looking to buy a compact pickup should really consider the Colorado. I am in sales and drive my truck every day. I have 59,000 on the clock and it has been nothing short of spectacular. The only part I have needed to replace on my truck was a faulty O2 sensor, other than the standard maintenance items. My truck rides great, handles great and the I5 motor has plenty of power, even when pulling my two horse trailer. If you want V8 power, buy a full size..

Nothing better Quality Control wont fix - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Dalien - June 14 - 1:18 amA really nice vehicle for the price. It drives well, rides well, and the strong 5 cyl engine gives a steady 23 mpg mixed use. Wish it had come with XM radio, but those were hard to find. I immediately flushed out the cheap tires for Michelins. There were too many warranty trips to fix dumb things, but the warranty service was excellent and no hassle.
