Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

First and Last GM vehicle - 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
By P. Mackin - March 17 - 6:59 amI like most everything about my Colorado with one MAJOR exception. The automatic transmission will not downshift when attempting to accelerate from low RPMs. It bogs and acts like a manual transmission that is in too high a gear. This is especially frustrating in traffic when you are constantly slowing down and speeding up. When on the highway in cruise control when going uphill it will slow down 2-4 miles per hour before downshifting to maintain the set speed. Both of these issues increase in severity as the ambient outside temperature increases. I have had this truck to the dealer four times for this issue and have been told that everything is operating normally. Not only is it very frustrating but it is also a safety issue.

07 colorado - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By geobee - March 3 - 9:13 amThis is a very nice truck. I got the z71 pkg, and I have to say it is the most capable 4x4 I have ever owned. That is due in part to the new Eaton G80 locker. Smooth and quiet, nice interior etc. Two thumbs up.

Not bad - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By divo006 - March 1 - 9:55 pmI bought my 2004 ZQ8 a couple months ago. I was rather iffy about it since it was only 2wd and winter coming. I like the fact that Im one of few with the 3.5L I5. Its a quick little truck and the gas mileage aint too bad either considering I drive 60 miles or so a day. If you want something to use as utility I wouldnt recommend this truck, but as for small jobs its perfect. I haul my quads and what not no problem. Interior could use a little work. Exteriors not bad..flashy. Rides a little rough.

Its no Tacoma! - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By llamawalker - March 1 - 6:31 pmI bought this truck to replace a 2002 Toyota extended cab 4x4,v6. After almost 3 years of ownership that decision is haunting me. The Chevy does tow better and is more stable on the road, and I think it looks 100% better than the Tacoma, but thats where it ends. From the start the A/C wasnt cold. 2 trips to the dealer fixed the problem...leaking valve. Next it was the trailering wire harness, fried up. The dealer harvested a part out of a 2005 on the lot. Between those problems it ate the front tires up. Misaligned from the factory....not covered by warranty. All this with 23000 miles. At 42000 the entire throttle body and throttle position actuator were replaced. Boo,GM....BOO!!

2006 Colorado Crew Cab LT 2wd Review - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By tm4 - March 1 - 2:51 pmSo far I have enjoyed this truck. Ive got the I-5 and it is quite powerful, it handles well at high speeds and is comfortable to sit in. The interior is utilitarian which makes it a little bland but very functional with controls easy to use and find. I had a problem, with the engine eary on, but the dealer fixed it under warantee and its been fine ever since. Overall, I am glad I bought the truck and I havent experienced all of the problems and flaws that others seem to talk about.

All of the Above - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By rollingshadow - February 22 - 9:06 amGreat truck so far. Bought a 2004 from the internet based only on the available reviews, features, price, and looks. Everything was true. Good power, torque, handling, ride quality, interior and bed space. Mediocre interior, flat bucket seats, lots of plastic. After 3000 miles I am very happy. The I5 and 4L60e work together beautifully. Quick shifts and instant downshifts. No busy shifting. Excellent ride quality and impressive handling for a small truck. The new I5 engine is impressive but has to prove its long term reliability. I am so happy to finally drive a vehicle that has over 200 ft lbs of torque available from a small engine.

Colorado is a poor truck. Buy Toyota! - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By GB - February 20 - 12:05 pmMy 2004 Colorado has had trans leak. Front axle seal and front differential seal leaks. Front end eats tires. GM re-aligned after several calls to GM customer service, now a bad vibration has developed with no fix by GM. Replaced heater blower fan twice. Replaced speaker, cup holder, seat adjuster broken. Interior very cheap. Been in the shop about 14 times for diagnostics and repairs. Have to fight GM for them to fix anything. Poor truck. Will buy Toyota the next time!
