Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

Excellent Small Pickup - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By Pete M143 - June 27 - 2:00 amMy Colorado came with the I5, auto, buckets and the ext. cab. I spend countless hours in my truck. Contrary to the pro reviews, I find nothing wrong with the interior design/materials. Compared to Japanese branded trucks, the quality difference in materials was negligible. Every part on this truck is aligned as expected and perfectly matched and spaced. The ride is wonderful, the truck goes exactly where you point it, and doesnt wander over bumpy roads. Dodge, Toyota and Nissan trucks were nice, but not as good. GM got it right, this is an excellent truck.

2005 Red Chevy Colorado Z-71 - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By redchevycolorado - June 24 - 7:49 amIts a great truck if you want to have decent fuel mileage, but still have the ability to tow or haul. I regularly tow a 200 pound trailer with an 1100 pound generator on it, and I cant tell its behind me (max tow weight is 4000 pounds). When hauling bags of sand or concrete blocks, the stock suspension does exceptionally well, with only a 3 - 3.5 inch drop. (An upgrade to load adjusting shocks though keeps this around 1 - 1.5 inches).

Follow up to my 5/26/2007 review - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Chris - June 22 - 4:45 amSoon after I submitted my first review on this forum my Colorado developed a cylinder head/valve train issue. Its going back to the dealer for a cylinder head/valve replacement next week. Apparently this has developed into a common problem for the I4 and I5 motors. The notion of having my engine torn apart this early on hasnt done much for my owner experience and to make things worse GM wont extend my drive warranty. For GM to continue to have these kinds of quality problems is very frustrating to me. Id prefer to support the American manufacturers but Im not sure I can afford to nor even want to anymore.

Good Truck for the Money - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By pyz01 - June 8 - 5:31 pmI really enjoy this truck. I wanted a small to midsize dependable truck. This was it. The other were too expensive and/or did not give the value for the money spent. Would be nice if it got better mileage, but I am not going to complain compared to others. I get about 17 in the city - 23 highway -which is pretty good. Excellent handling, good pickup. Drives smooth.

My experience so far has been good - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Chris - May 26 - 6:26 amI drive my trucks until they die and in 25 years owned a Toyota a Nissan and now this 06 Chevy Colorado. All are/have been 4x4s. I cant say how the Chevy will compare with the others over time but after owning it for 8 months and putting just over 6k miles on it Im not disappointed. Ive had no mechanical trouble so far, fuel economy has been in the low twenties, sometimes slightly better, the Chevy engine outperforms the others and I must be one of the only people who likes the plastic interior (this is a truck after all not a luxury automobile). I would have preferred bucket seats, an exterior door lock on the pasenger side and a ,stronger body but overall so far Im satisfied.

Colorado Not Good - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By James Zapalac - May 18 - 10:16 amToo many problems for under 70,000 miles. Cruise control had to be replaced, CD player ate a CD, had to be replaced. Recall on anti- locking brake light, manifold just crack, must be replaced, and AC is about to go out- just a matter of time. American car companies are forcing me to buy foreign. I have never bought a foreign vehicle before, but American made are not reliable.

I like it but ... - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By DCT - May 5 - 10:00 amOverall, a good reliable utility vehicle. Dumb question for GM ... Why use light primer for a black painted truck? It shows every scratch ! Also, what were you thinking with the dip stick? It is a long cable that does not reliably show oil level.

07 Colorado LT 4dr Crew Cab 3.7L 2wd Red - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By ChevyColoradoRider - May 4 - 4:24 amThe truck has everything needed for a small family. Im satisfied with this truck, and so far so good. Interior is not that bad, it would be nice if the rear seats are adjustable and more comfortable( maybe more cushioning).

Complaint free - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By Chris - April 20 - 7:51 pmIve had this truck 2.5 yrs. and have put roughly 135,000 miles on it and thinking about a new 2007 replacement. Needless to say, with all the miles Ive put on my truck, with no repairs needed, with the exception of two minor warranty repairs, this truck has been virtually trouble free. There is nothing wrong with the interior. It is what it is somewhat plain but extremely tough sensible hard plastic save for the cloth seats and well laid out. The exterior styling still impresses me as the best looking mid size crew cab on the road.
