Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

Simple but Solid - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By FirstNewTruck - September 15 - 4:43 pmIt isnt decked out with all sorts of bells and whistles, so if thats what youre looking for this might not be your truck. But it is sharp looking on the road, suprisingly roomy Crew Cab (my three kids car seats fit in the back), pretty good power train, and so far the reliability has been really good . All in all Im pretty satisfied with it. I bought the Z85 since its mostly being used for commuting to work, and I have no complaints. I have the Z85 w/ I5, Crew w/4WD.

So Far So Good - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Chris - September 1 - 9:09 pmI bought my truck new and have driven it for 20k miles. Fuel economy could be better but its as good or better than any other small 4x4 pickup (24 highway and 21 in town). The truck has a cushy ride, functional interior and the engine performance is adequate. I haul lumber, firewood, dirt, stone etc. and its holding up quite well. There was a cylinder head problem with the I4 and I5 in model years 04-06 which I understand has since been resolved. GM replaced the cylinder head on my truck at 7k miles. Ive had no trouble with it since and GM agreed to extend the warranty on the head work after I complained. So far Im satisfied with my Colorado and would certainly consider GM again.

Nice small truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By bart - August 31 - 9:07 amGas mileage was at 18.5 mpg until i installed the k&n air filter, then mileage went to 21.5. Have used it to tow 6x12 U-haul trailers with amazing results, plenty of power and gas mileage stayed good. Its not like my old F-150 but more economocal to drive. Only had two warranty issues so far. Front sensor on ABS and squeaky rear brakes, which the dealer took care of both.

Nice but not like my prior 1997 c/k1500 - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Dianne - August 19 - 7:44 amI wished I never traded my 1997 CK1500. That truck gave me hell of problems but was worth the 5.7 performance engine was issues were cleared under warranty. Not the fuel costs though. I put over 300k on that truck and decided to buy the 2005 Chevy Colorado with many of the bells and whistles to satisfy driving needs. Well, I made several complaints on the craftmanship build of the metal of this truck. It flexes way to much IMO on the highways. Got just thank you but Colorados are safe. Other than that, absolutely no mechanical problems, or body. Fuel cost vs my 97 difference is 3 gals per commute day. Performance, you can live with it for near v6 type engine I got.

Please watch out Z71 Crew Cab LS 4WD - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By workless - August 18 - 12:23 pmI bought new in 7-03, thought that since the S-10s this would be better. This is single-handedly the worst vehicle I ever owned out of 10+ GM products. The 5 cylinder had no power and even worse fuel economy. The worst is the front end, Isuzu product that is junk. Replace your front brake rotors and youll know what I mean - the design is ridiculous. The GM book rate is 6+ hours to remove a rotor. Then the flex hose to the rear brakes broke down internally and the micro rubber particles jammed up the rear brakes and the ABS system. I traded it in before I paid the approx $1700 for the replacement. I called GM with this complaint, they never called back! Premium gas only or sensors lit daily

OK Pickup - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By SN - August 14 - 2:43 pmBought new 24 months ago and so far so good. Roomy cab, comfortable ride, and fair fuel ecomomy. Has nice stereo and was reasonably priced. Its my 3rd new Chevy pickup and I think I liked my last S-10 a little better.

Gas hog - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By Dave - August 14 - 11:21 amThe back seat head rests are so big you cannot see out the back window. I have to keep the back seat folded down to have better visability. My in town mileage is 13 to 14 miles per gallon with the straight 5 cylinder engine. This really upsets me.

Happy - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By DOT FREY - August 13 - 8:40 amI have been very satisfied with my Colorado except the service departments bloopers. They created more problems than the truck would normally of had. It has needed work but I would not trade it for any other. I get an average of 26.9 to 28.6 mpg. I guess it depends on how you drive. I do a lot of hauling with it and have pulled my 10 trailer with no problems. Going up hills, it has more power than expected and here is West Virginia that is inportant for all we have are hills. I would recomend the Colorado to anyone as a small economy truck. the tires stink and were dry rotted so be careful but they gave me new ones after 15,000 miles.

Needs interior improvement - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By taztoy - August 1 - 9:27 amJust put 2000 miles on it over fourth of July weekend. Very comfortable. Plenty of leg room for a tall person and plenty of back seat room for car seats. Great pickup for what it is. When I need to haul something heavy I use my 3/4ton diesel.
