Overview & Reviews
Chevrolet dumps a 305-horsepower version of the Corvette's V8 engine under a new front end, adds standard four-wheel disc brakes on all models, adds a couple of new colors, makes second-generation airbags standard and revises trim levels. The midyear SS package makes 320 horsepower.
- Great acceleration and looks for a low price.

Awesome Car - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Ashish - November 10 - 10:43 amI bought the car with 93K miles. 4 years later it has about 145K miles. In the past 4 years the only things I have replaced is a clutch and a window motor. This is one of the few cars that will pretty much pass everything on the road including the gas station. 11 years later the paint is still shiny, the dash has no cracks, the leather is not beat up. This car is a true testament to GMs build quality.

My First New Car - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By 98Roadster - July 8 - 1:15 pmIve owned 10 cars and this was my first new car. Shes got 115,000 miles now and all Ive replaced is a starter, spark plugs and wires, and an alternator. Its been a great car and is really fun. Its kept in the garage so it still looks almost brand new. Ill probably trade it in for a new 2009 Camaro just as I did the 1988 IROC is used as a trade in for this Camaro.

Great little car - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By victim - February 5 - 2:07 amI have loved Camaros ever since I was little. I own a 69, and a 98 Camaro. Anyways, the Camaro is a great car. I have found it very reliable, and it has a lot of power for the small engine. I have never had any problems with it, and after 93,000 miles, the clutch is still fine. If you like Camaros, I would definitely suggest getting one, even if it is a v6. You wont regret it.

Fun? Of course, its a Camaro - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Baron3800 - November 26 - 12:20 pmAlthough on the hunt for an LS1 Z28 for my next car, my v6 3800 Camaro has been bullet proof and a very fun car to own. As a long time Camaro enthusiast, of course I modified mine and a new intake and cat-back really wake these v6ers up. Also the handling is great and showing up even Mustang GTs in corners isnt difficult. And of course, the 3800 series II (10 best engine award winner) has been reliable as the day I bought it. Do not buy import trash and these fake sport compact cars, the v6 Camaro/Firebird is an insurance friendly sports car that has big aftermarket support and will get stares from many.

Purely Amazing - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Tim - August 31 - 11:04 pmBought used after experiencing buddies SS. Absolutely amazing the exhilarations that this car brings is like nothing I have ever experience. Straight ahead speed and if you lay off the gas through turns it corners better than any sports car on the road. With proper care this car will run for years. As for gas mileage you wouldnt even know that you had a v8 engine (low range from small tank)...plenty of power to get in and out of sticky situations...if you have the opportunity to get this vehicle get it and get it quickly. Dont worry about the resale value, you will not resell this car. Still get compliments on a weekly basis by all types of people...

Original owner - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By mike - June 5 - 12:22 amIm the original owner of a 1998 Z28 Camaro and its been a really great car. Ive had it now for 7 years and have been driving it every day and in all types of weather. Its an absolute hoot of fun to drive. The LS1 V8 is a lion of an engine and it has incredible acceleration and handling - even to this day. Its also been very reliable considering how these cars always seem to have a bad rating in this area The only drawback is the difficulty of getting in and out of the car

98SSman - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By SSman - October 6 - 2:00 amThe vehicle is very enjoyable to especially when you have the T-top model like my self.If they go back to making the camaro I hope Chevy works more on the interior and try to get an engine sold off the lot that runs on regular gas

*Big Bang* for the Buck - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Sick LS1 - September 7 - 2:00 amIf you want a car that will be faster than most porsches, run with many supercars, brake in the same distance as a race prepped porsche gt3 (famous for brakes), but are on a budget, this is the car. Do some some basic mods to unleash this cars true potential. And by the way, a Z28 has the same engine as a Corvette (exact same), and Z28s will dyno at least as much hp as a C5, if not more. The engine was seirously underrated, so dont beleive the stats. Throw on some mods, and youll be showing up vipers, corvettes, porsches, other german supercars, and possibly even a ferrari 360, or lambo gallardo. Handling could be better though.

Black beaSSt - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Black-beaSSt - June 4 - 2:00 amI only had the car for 30 days, but the performance is awesome! Handling is much better than stock Z-28. SSs have variable springs, so initial suspension hits are absorbed nicely. The jaring kidney shots are not there unless your driving in Metro Detroit. Worth the extra bucks. For 25k will absolutely destroy mustangs from base GT (19k) to Cobra (32k)!

98 Z28 - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By cobie - February 28 - 2:00 amThe Z28 has plenty of hp and accelerates very well. It is a great drive once youre up and away you can cruise comfortably and with confidence at high speed. Only problem for a lot of folks is getting in and out of the car since seats are so low and doors are very long. Overall great value for a muscle car and reasonable maintenance.
