Overview & Reviews
Chevrolet dumps a 305-horsepower version of the Corvette's V8 engine under a new front end, adds standard four-wheel disc brakes on all models, adds a couple of new colors, makes second-generation airbags standard and revises trim levels. The midyear SS package makes 320 horsepower.
- Great acceleration and looks for a low price.
- Cave-like interior with top up. Outward visibility with top up. Cheap interior plastics.

Bang for the buck - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Goodsean - March 26 - 2:00 amI bought a showroom floor model back in 1997 and have not looked back since. It has been an extremely fun car to drive and has been very reliable. The gas mileage is not that great, but I expected that. It is too bad that the line was discontinued as it is a much better car than the mustang.

You like sports cars? Youll love this. - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By Teresa Miller - March 3 - 2:00 amI love cars very low to the ground & corner well with speed. I live on a gravel road that is not well maintained & the car has held up & is as good as the day I bought it. Mine has the ground effects which makes it very sharp & stylish.

98 camaro z28 - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By john b - February 5 - 2:00 amas a mechanic for a G.M. dealership, ive found that we VERY rarely see the Camaro or Corvette in the shop for any repairs other than the standard maintenance i.e. brakes, oil changes. The camaro has virtually the same engine (LS1) as the corvette just a minor de-tune so it doesnt compete on the corvette platform. Other than that said, the exterior is extremely attractive- even more with a skirt package, and the handling is magnificent! Stopping is remarkable given the 4 wheel disk brake set up and the interior is spacious in the front cabin. The rear seating is a little tight, but remember, this is a sports car!

Underrated - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By PreZ - January 28 - 2:00 amIve owned my Camaro for a four and a half years. I think the car is underrated. The engine is solid and has been reliable for all 117,500 miles. It also gets better mileage than many cars. Ive gotten nearly 35 miles to the gallon on interstae trips. It does have the five speed. Sure it has a few quirks, but nothing major. Dont forget, this is a Camaro. For the money its hard to beat. I still get many complements. Unfortunately I wont be able to get a new one, so Ill be looking for a 2001-2002 Z28 for my next vehicle.

LS1 POWER - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By musterd - November 29 - 2:00 amThis is a very reliable car and gets excellent gas mileage. I was very impressed with it. The LS1 engine has the power to stomp almost any other stock engine on the road. Great Value.

1998 SS - 1998 Chevrolet Camaro
By BBS III - November 20 - 2:00 amI have had nothing but fun in my SS for the past four years. It has been reliable with only the turning signal lamps needing to be replaced. Maintenance on consumables has been easily performed and the car still looks and handles great. Great job by SLP and GM.
