2004 Chevy Aveo Automatic Sedan - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By mtngirl4 - August 5 - 9:46 pmIm shocked at all the bad reviews with this car. My hubbie and I bought this car used at a dealership with just under 29,000 km on it. The dealership changed the fuel pump before we bought it (had been sitting in a garage for a while). They only thing that was a problem was in the first year the breaks locked and we had to have it towed. We had to replace all the break pads.

143K and counting - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By brennick - June 28 - 7:12 pmI dont know what all the bad press is on this car. I bought mine new in June of 2004 and have been totally pleased with it. It handles well, is quite peppy when Im by myself, and has incredible room both inside (amazing head room) and in the trunk. I get 27-28 mpg in town and have gone over 40 on the highway 40 when Im solo. With the 5 speed tranny it is a blast to drive in the mountains of Oregon and Idaho. I put a hitch on mine and can comfortably pull a small boat and still get in the low 30s for gas mileage. The only thing Ive done is replace the timing belt as routine maintenance and the water pump as my mechanic noticed it was starting to leak just a bit. I love this little car!

My Little Aveo - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By happy2bfree - September 15 - 8:22 amI just got my used 2004 Chevy Aveo this year. I love the car, just hope I never get into a wreck. You can lean on the outside and it dents in. Thats how thin or weak the metal is on the outside. Also... it has very poor pick up power on the highway. A little old lady gave me a dirty look as she passed me up on the highway. I love the space I have inside. Lots of headroom for me. Im 55" and the one thing I hate is my seatbelt still cuts me at the neck, and its in the lowest spot. Other than some miner things like that, and low pick up power up and down hills, and the fact it doesnt seem very strong in the body, I love the car. Made in S. Korea though. :(

Good little Car - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By Julie - July 2 - 11:51 amI bought this car in April used from my sister. It has 71,000 miles on it and have had no problems at all. I also drove this car from Chicago Illinois out to Seattle Washington and it did great! It is a small car but actually very roomy in the interior, I have had multiple people say that. My boyfriend who is 61 and 240 pounds said he was comfortable. I take very good care of my cars and am always up to date on car fluids, check ups, etc. Not caring properly for the car may be the reason why people have problems with it. Always check to make sure the car was well maintained when buying used.

I love my Aveo LS Hatchback. - 2004 - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By patrick - May 28 - 11:45 amI have driven a 2004 Aveo LS for 6 yrs and have not had to replace any parts except a gas cap (19.50). Mileage is great, seating comfortable and can hook up a canine seat belt to the back or front seat belts apparatus. I plan to drive it 2-3 more years.

Do not buy this car. - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By Alexz1105 - April 9 - 5:33 pmThe problems every Aveo owner is venting on (timing belt) happened to myself as well. I was on my way home after work and all of sudden my car stopped. Turns out the timing belt busted causing me to have to get another used engine since the valves were bent, and the head gasket was blown. Which cost me a total of $2300.00, now after that pricey repair I had to have my fuel module repaired plus, my O2 sensor which costs me another $700. Its heartbreaking because I figured its a Chevrolet product and they are a reliable brand. But the more I read about this car I find its manufacturer is Daewoo. Who the heck are they? Case in Point dont buy this car get a Toyota, Yaris.

Low cost commute - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By Texas Commuter - April 2 - 9:12 amI bought this car for $9k in 2005 with only 10k miles on it. I have a 20 mile commute, half highway half city. I get around 32 hwy and 30 average. It started missing in year 3 but new plugs fixed the problem. Also a sensor on the brake pedal broke and would not shift into gear. At 80k replaced the timing belt and water pump at the same time. Ran great. At 137k now it needs some engine repairs. Waiting to hear on cost.

Honest Value over Status - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By TNtim - April 10 - 2:00 amThis would be a great first car, second car, or utility vehicle. Value, versatility and more than a little verve. Dont let the price tag fool you.

Very pleased with my Aveo - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo
By Tom - November 6 - 5:02 amI have been very pleased with my Aveo, on average I get about 29-30 miles per gallon in town and when Im on the open road Ive averaged as high as 36- 37 miles per gallon. recently a dealer offered me well over the bluebook value for my aveo because they were looking to boost their inventory of smaller cars, but why should I get something new when I get the mileage that I do. Really have not had to put a great deal of money into it, just the basic and recommended things. Overall I can only say good things about my Aveo and that I wont be getting anything new soon, because the newer cars dont even get the miles per gallon my car does now.
