This Year's Model Updates:

The Avalanche gets numerous interior upgrades for '03 in addition to the midyear introduction of a "decladded" version that does without the oft-derided extensive lower body trim. Dual-zone climate control is now standard equipment on all models along with multistage airbags and a passenger airbag sensor. A redesigned instrument panel houses a more comprehensive driver information display; and an optional multifunction steering wheel puts climate, radio and trip computer controls right in the palm of your hands. New entertainment options include a Bose stereo system, XM Satellite Radio and a rear passenger DVD video system. Other new options include the StabiliTrak stability control system on 2WD half-ton models, adjustable pedals, and a fully automatic multizone climate control system.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

Wow, I have been driving this beast for 8 months and i still enjoy jumping in just for a ride. Great versitility, I only wished I would have found one with the xm radio pre-installed. I have owned 2 suburbans and this is much more usesful.

  • Great comfortable powerful truck - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

Well lets start with the bulletproof drivetrain. 295 hp, rock solid and quick... great transmission. Interior is great, not too flashy and very comfortable seats. The truck is very useable, the bed is decently large, and the cover works as a tonneau. I have driven this truck on over 4500 mile road trips and will not stop going. I have just passed 80,000 miles and not a single problem. Gas mileage is around 15.5 in town and over 19 on the highway.

  • Love to Drive - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

This truck drives like a dream. It has a soft ride, smooth transmission, and is relatively easy to manuever for a large truck. The leather seats are incredibly comfortable, and there are a lot of bells and whistles available. The only complaint is poor fuel economy, even for a truck. I only have 600 miles on it so far, but am averaging about 13.5 mpg.

This vehicle has been used to tow our show car all over the country and hasnt missed a beat. Storage is one of the best features. We will be looking at the new version when it becomes availiable.

  • New Love - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

I am a new/used Avalanche owner, and I am so happy with my purchace. Somebody pinch me. I traded in a 99 Tahoe, which I was very happy with, but we were approaching 100,000 miles, and hubby said it was time to trade it in. I only test drove Avalanches, because I liked the size and interior of my Tahoe, but would like the versatility of the box for bikes, fishing poles, etc. Also love the look. Love the zip, steers like a car, so so happy.

  • Luxurious Four Wheel Drive - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
    By -

After seeing the Avalanche I had to do some research to find out if it was as good as it looked. After research I went to test drive it...all it took was to drive it around the parking lot and I bought it!! This is the most unique, most reliable, most fun vehicle ever. Only in America would you find Luxury, Leather, 4 Wheel Drive, SUV/Truck that drives more smoothly than most cars! I have driven this vehicle in snow, mud, on road, and off...it drove so well and incredibly smooth. It simply feels like you are riding in a Limo with the power to go anywhere in any weather. Everything about it is incredible.

  • Great truck but a gas guzzler - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

The truck runs great and the ride is comfortable with excellent handling. Only complaint is that gas mileage is very poor and visibility when backing up is horrible

This vehicle does it all and looks good doing it. Doesnt beat you up on long drives. Pulls heavy loads with ease 2 horses in a 16 ft. stock trailer no problem. Zero mechanical problems love the engine it even sounds strong. Interior is very comfortable and has toys everywhere. Dual zone temp control works like a champ.

  • Only one major problem - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
    By -

I had an F150 before the Avalanche. The Avalanches ride and quietness rivals that of a quality sedan. Bose stereo is incredible. Love the midgate and what it allows you to do. No other truck can do what this truck does. Ive used this feature several times and am glad I had this vehicle. A negative would be having to move the fronts seats foward to allow the rear seat to fold down to fully lower the midgate. A removable rear seat headrest would solve the problem. I now have 71000 miles and have yet to do anything but normal oil changes. Brakes are original still. Still love the truck

  • Best All Around Vehicle - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
    By -

I have the Z66 Package with all the goodies. When I first tried out this vehicle, I was sold. We (wife and I) are snowbirds and travel back and forth from NY to FL very comfortably. Gas mileage could be better but we average about 19.5 on the road and 17 off. I like the convenience of having a pickup body available. I carried some 12 vinyl siding pcs. inside with the tailgate closed! Thanks Chevy
