This Year's Model Updates:

The Avalanche gets numerous interior upgrades for '03 in addition to the midyear introduction of a "decladded" version that does without the oft-derided extensive lower body trim. Dual-zone climate control is now standard equipment on all models along with multistage airbags and a passenger airbag sensor. A redesigned instrument panel houses a more comprehensive driver information display; and an optional multifunction steering wheel puts climate, radio and trip computer controls right in the palm of your hands. New entertainment options include a Bose stereo system, XM Satellite Radio and a rear passenger DVD video system. Other new options include the StabiliTrak stability control system on 2WD half-ton models, adjustable pedals, and a fully automatic multizone climate control system.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

I love my truck. There is plenty of room for all 3 of my kids, and my wife. The DVD rear entertainment center keeps the kids happy too. The only thing I have noticed is a slight rattling felling through the steering wheel. I dont know if anyone else has noticed, or has the same feeling ?

I have put on about 6000 highway miles in about 2 months of ownership. I very much appreciate the ride quality. The audio system is superb!

Never throught I would be in love with a truck! When I drive my sister around in it she doesnt want to get out of it!Most people dont think its mine. (cause Im a female) I love being "Up High" It handles like a luxury car. I havent had it long but find it very reliable. Being a woman I wouldnt hesitate driving it anywhere. The only thing I have to complain about is that all other doors have a bar to grab when someone gets in the car,EXCEPT THE DRIVER SIDE! WHY????? Can it be installed now? All I can say is that I will be enjoying my 2004 Avalanche for many years to come. Thank you Snooki

  • Wife is happy - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

When my wife first saw one of these she said it was the ugliest things she ever saw. I liked them, brought one home for her to drive. After taking it to the store once, and on errands the next day, she came home and said it was the best driving vehicle of its size she had ever seen. She said she could see better, and felt very secure. I bought her one and now she has told me repeatedly she will drive nothing else.

I test drove the Escalade and the Avalanche.....the money difference was a factor but not primary. The Escalade was great loved it.....but the Avalanche seems just as good, saved allot of money and after 30 days is great.

  • Better than other 4dr trucks! - 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

We were looking 4 a "family" type vehicle. Had leased Suburban&looked @ Ford F150 4dr.Was nice. Then went back 2 Chevy 2 see what they had in similar price range. Tried their Silverado, but salesman/finance guy pointed out price of Avalanche. Being very happy with leased Burban, we were impressed with suspension and overall ride/handling of it!A great find!Had always liked the boxyness of its styling but thought would be priced higher than average 4drs. Picked out an Arrival Blu WITH "armour" pakage and have never looked at another truck since! By the way, 2 Loren Guinn 7/03, plastic mouldngs ARENT tacky & has prevented many a dents in parking lots a

The conversion capability is priceless. Just a quick 1-10 minute change depending on what I need. Im a snowboard instructor in VT and the 4WD, and the ability to comfortably carry 5 (bucket seats) and gear without a roof rack (theyre dirty anyway) or even converting is clutch. With all this comes cost though. It takes quite a bit more time to clean and condition all the seals plus all the maintence of 4WD. Then again, theres not a lot of paint to wax :) Also it is a bit of an ordeal to add any sub woofers and miantain the conversion capability. If you want to know more see chevyavalanchefanclub. com
