This Year's Model Updates:

The Avalanche gets numerous interior upgrades for '03 in addition to the midyear introduction of a "decladded" version that does without the oft-derided extensive lower body trim. Dual-zone climate control is now standard equipment on all models along with multistage airbags and a passenger airbag sensor. A redesigned instrument panel houses a more comprehensive driver information display; and an optional multifunction steering wheel puts climate, radio and trip computer controls right in the palm of your hands. New entertainment options include a Bose stereo system, XM Satellite Radio and a rear passenger DVD video system. Other new options include the StabiliTrak stability control system on 2WD half-ton models, adjustable pedals, and a fully automatic multizone climate control system.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

Well I bought it because of the bed conversion capability. It seemed like a good idea, but in actuality more of a hassle to convert to full bed. The bed panels are a chore to remove and store. If you plan on using the full bed a lot, then get a regular pickup! No issues with the engine, but thats where it ends. In 2.5 years Ive been to the dealer for new rotors and pads all around at 5,000 miles, steering shaft replacement, Bose radio replacement, rear window replacement, faded cladding, center mount brake light replacment, regrease steering shaft, failed rear end, and failed transmission. All fortunately covered under warranty except the tranny. I baby the thing. Ive never towed or gone off road.

The service that I recieved at Jack Schmitt Chevy was excellent. The sales rep was Al Killingsworth, he was very knowledgabe and helpful in all matters. The Avalanche is a blast to drive.

Hated it when it first came out, test drove one and I was hooked.. The ride is unbelieveable, power is there when you need it, space is there if you need it, and the comfort is there.

This design has fit in perfectly with my families needs. It seats 5 comfortably with the midgate up yet still has the capability of being used as a full-size pick-up when required. It is a joy to drive and has a superb ride. I was pleasantly suprised when I checked the gas mileage on a trip to Dallas...18.9 mpg. That is fantastic for a truck. The interior is both beautiful and functional.

I,ve owned many luxury cars and several types of trucks. My avalanche rides as smooth as cadillac without the annoying bottoming out on the dips in many city. streets. It is very quiet and hauls my cargo completely weather tight.I cannot say enough good things about this truck. It is truly the ultimate vehicle.

The avalanche is the most versatile, comfortable vehicle we have ever owned. It rides like a dream and has plenty of room for our large family. We have taken it on many trips and have enjoyed the combination of comfort and practicality in transporting and hauling camping equipment, etc...By far the most enjoyable vehicle we have ever owned. We have been a truck and SUV family for over 20 years and the avalanche is the perfect combination of truck and SUV.

This truck does it all. I have driven Ford Lariats the past 5 years, but after seeing the Avalanche I decided to give Chevrolet another chance. I needed alot of interior room to transport clients, but still needed the truck box to haul items. There are even storage compartments on the rear sides that I use as toolboxes and/or coolers. Most people cant believe the smooth quiet ride. Best vehicle Ive ever owned!
