Overview & Reviews
The high-performance X5 4.6is is discontinued. The 3.0i and 4.4i receive an exterior update, as well as a new all-wheel-drive system called xDrive. A six-speed manual transmission is now standard on the 3.0i, and a six-speed automatic is standard on the 4.4i. The 4.4i also receives a new 4.4-liter engine with Valvetronic and a fully variable intake system. Both models can add Sirius Satellite Radio and Bluetooth hands-free cell phone capability as dealer-installed accessories.
- Rides and drives like a BMW sedan, multiple drivetrain choices, top safety scores, high-end cabin furnishings.
- Less interior volume than a 5 Series wagon, price goes up quickly with options, poor fuel economy in the city.

Very Impresses - 2004 BMW X5
By ssabripo - December 27 - 2:00 amI bought this car after test driving the VW Touraeg, Infinty FX45, and the Acura MDX. It is not as luxurious as the Tourage on the inside, is not quite as fast in the straight line as the FX45, but it is the best all-around SUV Ive ever driven! it handles like a 3-series sedan, and the new Valvetronic just hums as you go 100mph.

Im on my second one - 2004 BMW X5
By boop - May 22 - 2:00 amThe first one I owned was better than this one. In the 3 years I cant imagine why there havent been any improvements....although it is hard to improve, there are some minor adjustments to be made. I think maybe the tranni is slipping or just isnt as responsive as it should be, may need bigger trani. And there are blind spots in the rear, if the mirrors arent just perfect. If you choose the navigation system... and a 6 changer cd... the cd cannot be put in the glove compartment.... but has to be in the rear.... most inconventent! The back up beeping drives me crazy, needs cut off switch thats not event related. I just seem disappointed with it a bit.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! - 2004 BMW X5
By BMWfinatic - February 17 - 8:23 pmMy second bmw. I absolutely love it. Amazing ride, comfort and I feel so safe driving down the road. It is perfect for wanting a fun, nice car with the suv (or "SAV") versatility. Handles great in all weather. I was a little disappointed with the depreciation, considering my last one really held its value. Will only buy BMW for the rest of my life. no other car company can come close to their customer service, quality, performance. BMW really stands behind their product.

Even better than hoped! - 2004 BMW X5
By chrisg - July 21 - 2:00 amLove it! Handles great, good power, sturdy feel, plenty of leg room. I do agree with the Editors review in that its not a great utiliterian vehicle, but who buys a BMW to haul lumber. Drives like a car, not a truck.
