  Good Techology, terrible phone system - 2004 Audi A8

  I immediately recognized the technology advances over BMW and Mercedes. Buyers need to beware of Motorola V60 phone functionality. It does not work with the onboard MMI system and is basically a glorified hands free kit (effectively USD 1,000) for no added value. Voice activation is approximate at best and does not work when raining Suprisingly, none of the professional reviewers noticed that the phone system is archaic and a real problem. The Mercedes S class do have numbers that upload to the onboard computer. Another issue to be careful with is the choice of wheel rims. I have the 19" with sport tires which account for a very bumpy ride.

  Audi not only goes head-to-head with the S-Class Mercedes and the BMW 7 Series, but raises the bar on what a luxury sedan is in terms of value for money, aesthetic pleasure, performance handling, reliability, SAFETY, and all around "feel good". This is one seriously exceptionally engineered handling automobile. It is a welcome addition and partner to my existing E- Class Mercedes and Porsche Boxster S. I would recommend the A8 to anyone who is looking for the benefits of a luxury sedan without forfeiting the pleasures of a high-performance sports car.

  WOW! - 2004 Audi A8

  This car is unbelievable! The exterior styling, interior layout/finish and performance are all best in the class. The sound system is best Ive ever heard, there is room for days in the front, back and trunk, and for a car its size, it handles better and is more responsive than the Porsche I traded in. I looked at the 7-Series and the S-Class and neither compared! Buy the Audi!

  My A9L is a dream come true. Makes BMW and MB look last generation. More fun to drive than a Turbo Cayenne, and more rare. Interior details are stunning. Lighting is knockout. Stereo is wonderful. Back seat is almost limo. I drove one of the first TT coupes in Florida. People crossed 4 lanes of traffic to oogle it. This car is just as stunning. Even my teenage son and his friends are impressed. It must be cool. And there is room for 4 bags and 4 golfers in style. Audi quality and service are wonderful. My dealer, Shelton, is A1. I hate to gush, but it is one ego trip for a person who loves to drive.

  I have been a bmw(2 740il, one 850csi), two porsche, and this is my first Audi. This is the finest automobile I have ever driven...second is not close! There is nothing, nothing, that was not perfect at delivery...and it has remained that way for the first 8,000 miles.

  I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK FOR A REPLACEMENT OF MY AUDI A6. I WANTED SOMETHING AND DECIDED THAT THE CONVERTIBLE WAS IMPRACTICLE SINCE I HAD TWO CHILDERN AND I DIDNT WANT A TRUCK. I SAW THE A8L AND I ASKED TO TEST DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT FOR A RIDE AND COULD NOT BELEIVE HOW IT HANDLED AND COULD NOT BELEIVE HOW FAST I WAS GOING. AFTER I BROUGHT IT BACK AND DROVE MY A6 HOME, I KNEW I HAD TO GET. THE CARS ADAPTIVE SUSPENSION AND WIDE WEELS MAKE THIS CAR A DREAM TO RIDE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE PICKUP IS QUICK FOR SUCH A BIG CAR.

  Big Car Drives Like a Small Car - 2004 Audi A8

  A8 is so much fun to drive. Traded in my S500, and the A8 has a much sportier ride and handling. Powerful engine. Design is beautifully simple. Interior is exquisite. I love the MMI, navigation is much better than MB. Several nits: Slight hesitation on rapid acceleration, Pass. rear headrests obscure rear right view, phone not really integrated into car system the way it was in my MB(almost like an aftermarket add-on),dynamic memory in radio doesnt find all the major stations, If you leave the wipers turned on when you shut the car off, they do not start again when you startup the car- you have to turn the wipers off and then on again.

  Automatic trunk closure never worked properly. MMI system shuts down completely at different times-very erratic Nav system did not function properly when purchased Rear seal leak- Had to be replaced Local dealer would not offer loaner-he did not sell the car. It takes 12-14 days to schedule maintenance with local dealer. This has happened on three separate occasions.
