  • Surprisingly good - eats country roads - 2004 Audi A8

Picked up new 2004 A8L recently - with trepidation after reading about problems/bad reviews surrounding acceleration, brakes, and electrical (battery life) systems. After 200 mile run - absolutely no problems - nada. A real all around pleasure - from both comfort and fun to drive perspectives. Actually this is the real luxury alternative to a SUV - lots or room, 4wheelDrive, trunk space forever, and adj. air suspension. My 14 year old daughter in the back-seat loves it. A huge move up from my 2001 BMW 330ci. And big brother to my Jeep Cherokee Overland.

Its just what I expected it to be. My last car was a 2001 Mercedes S430 and I have no regrets. Its an outstanding car that has it all over the Benz. Quatro is an experience!!

  • Nothing but the best - 2004 Audi A8

The quality is impeccable. The drive is exceptional. Ride is the best ever. Plenty of power. And it is RARE compared to S, E class or 7 series. Everyone loves to look at it. Five golfers and five bags in the trunk travel in style. Rear seat is a lemo class. Shortcomings: Drivers seat bolsters are a little tight, and no satellite radio available when I purchased. Gas mileage is about 12-15, 25 at 80 mph on the highway. Love it.

  • Fix the MMI - 2004 Audi A8
    By -

MMI has constantly failed, including running down the battery forcing a tow job. Dealership cant fix and blames Audi USA. This is a very serious problem that they need to come clean on. Credibility is vanishing!

  • Electrical Malfunction - 2004 Audi A8
    By -

Otherwise stellar car spoiled by serious problem -- Nav system and other elec. components periodically decide to continue to drain power hours after the car is switched off -- resulting in dead battery. Three trips to dealer and still no fix. Battery is in the trunk if you need to jump it.

    very very nice ride

  • frustrated - 2004 Audi A8

I couldnt be more frustrated. Ive had it in the shop six times in five months. The electronics on the car keeps failing. The technicians cannot figure it out. The MMI system and the keyless remote keep failing. I wish I could get rid of it. But Audi does not back up their product.

  • The New 8... - 2004 Audi A8

Beautiful car that is so good that its faults stand out more than they otherwise would. I love a big ride, but this one is so large that Parktronic should be standard... almost impossible to park in tight quarters without it (or without playing bumper cars). DO NOT BUY WITHOUT IT, despite its over-sensativity or your assumption that you can park a car without a computer (thats me!)

  • almost love it - 2004 Audi A8

It drives beautifully. I have had mercedes, lexus and BMW, and this car drives better than all of them. However, the attention to simple conveniences is not there. For example, Good luck finding a water bottle that will not fall over in the front cup holders. Also there is only a 6 CD changer. No additional single CD changer (as in the BMW) nor a tape deck. This means that you cannot switch between sources without losing your place. So while the car is a pleasure to drive, it does not take care of some of the simple things that you should never notice.
