This Year's Model Updates:

The A6 gets a new 220-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 to replace last year's 2.8-liter. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is available on front-wheel-drive models with this engine. Other mechanical changes this year include stronger brakes, an improved stability control system and BrakeAssist. OnStar telematics makes its way onto the options list, and you'll be pleased to find a standard six-disc changer in the dashboard. Styling in and around the car, such as the head and taillamps, is slightly modified and new interior and exterior colors expand your choices.

Pros:
  • Large selection of engines, well-appointed interior, all-wheel-drive stability.
Cons:
  • Non-linear steering, questionable exterior styling.

  • Tranny woes - 2002 Audi A6

I love the styling, the power, the handling... but I hate the transmission! Would you ever shift into 5th at 25 mph? This car does. Its either bogged down or revved up around corners - a little frightening. Love the trip-tronic, but hubby doesnt do that. Ever. Youd better have a garage, cause this baby doesnt like New England winters - it whines and groans. And the wiper blades! Summer-type only, Audi-brand only ($25), that cant take any ice. The $90 rubber floor mats let water leak onto the carpet... Gimme my old Volvo AWD! Ok, so Ill miss the handling...

Previously owned 2000 2.7 T. Crashed it into a tree and bought the 2002 4.2 new at the begi9nning of 2003. Smooth power, excellent handling. Interior first class. Tiptronic on steering wheel is nice little gimmick.MPG seems to be about 18.0, but wife driving mostly in town. In a word, the car is solid, solid, solid.

  • 2003 A6 3.0 Quattro - 2002 Audi A6

I am coming out of a Toyota Avalon and have never owned a European sports sedan. Looked at Infiniti G35, Acura, Volkswagon, and Lexus. Wanted something more conservative and low key than a BMW. Only have owned for 30 days but so far so good. Dealership worked very hard to earn my business and was much more aggressive on price than I expected. Considered 2.7T model, but prefered the steering wheel radio controls in the 3.0 Quattro.

I looked at the BMW 530 to compare, probably the only truly comparable car, and was not impressed. A6 beat it in styling, luxury and overall comfort (5 series has almost no rear leg room). With the quattro, sport package and 17 inch wheels, this thing is stuck to the road like a roller coaster (the dealer had me take a right turn at about 40 mph, not even a skid). A true sports sedan that screams "class."

Overall we are quite happy with the A6 Avant. The car looks great, the interior is luxurious and somewhat spacious. Very nice exterior design. we are so glad that we did not buy ML320.

The Audi A6 did not meet my expectations. Instead, I prefer a Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The C-Class is far superior in design, performance and price.

WE NEEDED A CAR FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE IN ALL WEATHER AND PICKED THE AVANT...BEST VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER OWNED SO NOW WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN A6 4.2 QUATTRO SEDAN FOR ME.

  • Best of both worlds - 2002 Audi A6

Love it! I have a family of four and was tired of the SUV/Minivan thing and wanted something fun to drive. We still have the minivan, but this car is the quintessential sports sedan. Great for family outings or date night with my wife or a solo drive on a winding mountain road blaring the Bose system.

  • Second Audi - 2002 Audi A6

First Audi was a 98 A4 2.8 6 speed sport. This A6 also brings a smile to my face when I get behind the wheel. It isnt the fastest or the sportiest of the A6 line, it is simply a pleasure to drive. Was reluctant to give up shifting gears, however the CVT is a vast improvment over an automatic. No slop, no lag, no power loss. If you miss shifting, slip it into tip mode and blip thru six forward ratios. Handling is good even without sport suspension. Great interior. No regrets.
