Overview & Reviews
Audi's entry-level sedan and wagon are all new for 2002. Along with a redesigned body structure and new sheet metal, the new A4 receives a variety of changes to make it sportier. It is motivated by either a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four or a completely new 3.0-liter 220-horsepower V6, which can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Making its debut this year for non-quattro models is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), also known as multitronic. An in-dash six-disc CD changer and a dual-zone auto climate control top the standard features list.

Initial Assessment - 2002 Audi A4
By Aegil - June 16 - 2:00 amIve owned the car for less than a month, but right away some things are apparent. Biggest issue is lack of low- end power - get a manual and this thing will DIE starting on an uphill incline unless youre a master with the clutch. You cant go above 5mph in first gear ridiculous. Silver lining though - increased fuel efficiency, and once you have momentum the turbo can really kick in. Also, Audis start to fall apart after 30,000 miles... particularly with all the extra gadgetry that it comes equipped with. No surprises here - just buy the extended warranty.

love it and hate it - 2002 Audi A4
By dvic - June 16 - 2:00 amlove the car past 2nd gear and on twistys-hate the car at stop lights when tauruses and accords arent working nearly as hard to go just as fast or faster - audi shouldnt have allowed 1.8T to be purchased with sport package/wheels - this car looks fast but is not - remember guys, form follow function! plus my suspension started squeeking like an old stagecoach after 6 months - they still havent fixed it!! great looking and comfy overall - would buy another but either v6 or s4 - never again 1.8T!!

My Audi 1.8T - 2002 Audi A4
By Rainbowman - June 8 - 2:00 amAll in all, the car has lived up to its ratings by the automotive press. Acceleration from a standstill is not the greatest, until the turbocharger kicks in... then it feels a lot stronger and reacts. The sport suspension handles very well, but the agressive tires are fairly noisy, especially at highway speeds. The center console does restrict leg movement and can be a little uncomfortable for a taller driver. The seating is firm and may be considered stiff by some.

Fun Audi A4 - 2002 Audi A4
By MJEPilot - June 6 - 10:00 amDolphin Grey is the color to get. Love the car and all the options (heated rear seats, 6-disc changer in dash, platinum lined interior, etc). I own a BMW 323i (2000) and this car drives sportier and smoother. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a $30,000 luxury car.

Love it, Hate dealer - 2002 Audi A4
By great car! - June 4 - 2:00 amFirst of all the obvious: needs more power, more leg room, a better sound system, and the loaner car program is a joke. besides that what a great car: fun to drive, excellent build (tighter finish and better materials than the past three infinitis weve owned), the CVT is great and very interstate friendly.

My boss thinks hed paying me too much.. - 2002 Audi A4
By The Red Baron - June 4 - 2:00 amI gave my boss and some other coworkers a lift the other day, and my boss was impressed. "this is a great car. Im amazed at the interior." It is a great car. I looked at BMWs, Volvos, Saabs, etc., for style, safety, and performance. The A4 has it all. Its a toy and its a statement. For safety, I dont think it can be beat. On my way home tonight, a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light. It was rainy, the roads were slick, I was at speed and yet the Audi prevaled. I braked and swerved my A4 steered right around that Jeep like I was dancing with butterflies. I am fast becoming one of Audis best salespersons.
