This Year's Model Updates:

Audi's entry-level sedan and wagon are all new for 2002. Along with a redesigned body structure and new sheet metal, the new A4 receives a variety of changes to make it sportier. It is motivated by either a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four or a completely new 3.0-liter 220-horsepower V6, which can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Making its debut this year for non-quattro models is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), also known as multitronic. An in-dash six-disc CD changer and a dual-zone auto climate control top the standard features list.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive, powerful engines, sharp handling.
Cons:
  • Prices shoot up with options.

Ive been smiling since the day I picked up my baby. Rides awesome, minimal body roll, no under/oversteer thanks to Quattro. Interior space matches that of 3er and C-Class. Xenon is really bright.

Door shuts like no other, if ure used to closing Japanese car doors, ud have to close this cars door a couple of times. 4 Heated Seats, individually variable. Steering is precise and on-track.

  • Many to choose from, but only ONE to buy - 2002 Audi A4

It came down to the Audi A4 1.8t, BMW 325i, and Mercedes C240, with the same order in price, cheapest to most expensive. 1.8t ran about 30k loaded, 325i 37k loaded, and C240 over 40k loaded. What made it easy was the fact that the A4 trumped the rest of the competition with its beautiful and classy interior! Im sorry, but the C-Class is quite cheaply made interior wise, and the Bimmer was looking more and more dated. Very solid ride, typicaly Teutonic. Must see in person, very muscular and athletic looking, handles like its on rails.

  • Wow and Wowee... - 2002 Audi A4

This car far exceeded my expectations and everything Id read. I didnt think Id go for one but when I drove the 02 Passat and then the 02 1.8T, I knew that the Audi was for me. Tighter, smaller, quicker, and, yeah, more money. Dont believe what everyone says that the Passat is a better value: drive both to see what suits your driving style, etc. best. Dont get me wrong: my 99 Passat was terrific but this is car is "Wow!" The quality of craftsmanship in this car is incredible.

This car has been in the shop more than I have had it at my house. I am currently out of warranty and nobody wants to work on this car so Im forced to pay through the nose at the dealer. Every headlamp, side marker, tail lamp has burned out twice sinced Ive owned the vehicle. The vaccuum hoses have busted, the w/s wiper motor burned out, the cd player quit working, the computer went bad, it eats tires like crazy and the list goes on and on. Besides that it is a great vehicle? Prior to this vehicle I owned an Acura and traded it in at 90k miles and never had any issues except for replacing the tires. I will definitely go back to the Acura line and would not recommend Audi to anyone.

This car drives like a dream it perfectly mates the driver to the road in a seemless interface. It is a pleasure to drive. I look for excuses to get in my car and drive on the weekends. My wife loves it because I am more likely to run erands for her. The problem she finds is that it takes me much longer to return home than it used to.

  • ...You just might like it !!!!!! - 2002 Audi A4

I have to say of all of the different entry level luxury cars... The A4s in/outside design surpasses many cars twice its price ! Please, BMW is seen way too often... and more often you are paying through the teeth to own one... only later to find out what type of value you had passed by !!! Trust me, three friends ( BMW drivers ) have clued me in. If it is only for an around the block drive... This car is going to surprise you again and again !

  • Great Sports Sedan - 2002 Audi A4

I was basically down to the A4, IS300, or G35. Wouldve chosen a 3 Series, but didnt look like too good of a value in comparison. Been driving an IS300 regularly and its awesome, but didnt want two IS300s. Finally chose the A4 because of quattro, looks, and warranty. So far the car has been great. Handling is good, but not quite as sharp as the 3 Series. Ride is excellent, turbo has surprisingly good torque, engine music readily heard. Tiptronic works great. Road and wind noise is low, and interior shouts quality. Lots of pleasant surprises (lights everywhere, little compartments). Car looks great, especially with 17-inch alloys. Lots fun to drive.

  • Worst Car Ive ever owned! - 2002 Audi A4
    By -

In my 30+ years of driving, Ive owned Corvairs and AMC products that would be considered "problem cars", but nothing matches the unreliability of an Audi. I purchased both a 2001 and 2002 A4 and have become very familiar with the local wrecker companies. The 2002 is now having its 4th engine installed (after only 50,000 miles). The stereo system has been replaced three times. We traded in the 2001 at a loss after being towed three times for coil issues. Stay away from Audi! This is the worst car Ive ever owned, including the 1964 Corvair I paid $100 for in 1974!
