  • Horrible Turbo Lag - 2005 Volvo XC90
    By -

This car has some very nice styling but for an almost $50,000 car it has some very real problems. It has the worst turbo lag that I have ever driven, I test drove a 5 cyl. model but bought the T6. When the defrost is on, there is no heat on the floor, so if you need to have it on, your feet will freeze. The ride and comfort are great but with the problems that I talked about, I would not recommend it to anyone.

  • XC90 V8 - 2005 Volvo XC90

Have shopped every 3 row SUV out there. For us, this one hits a home run. More useable interior space than a Sequoia or Escalade, due to folding first, second and third row seats, safety features unmatched by any other , the most comfortable seats I tried and a smooth, easy ride made the decision clear. The V8 is a pleasure to drive. It is smooth, crisp and powerful. The interior is among the quietest of any Ive been in.

  • Probably the best car I have owned - 2005 Volvo XC90
    By -

Ive owned quite a few cars until sticking for nearly 14 years with my old Honda before purchasing the Volvo XC90. This is a solid SUV with the best safety features found. I participated in the Volvo sponsored Drivers Experience, which trained me in how to use the various safety features on the car. In the driving I do on Southern California freeways daily, I feel much more secure in this car than in any other car I have owned. My two Golden Retrievers like it, too!

  • The Mechanics Love this Car! - 2005 Volvo XC90

Second Volvo I owned, probably my last. I have replaced the tires 2x with only 25K+ miles on odometer, replaced air conditioner 3x, radio in for repair 2x, seal on my driver side door 4x, and a few misc interior finish pieces had to be replaced. Not to mention every time I take it in for service, something is being replaced for recall. I had a 240DL brick which I put 256,000 miles on, never had a problem with the car other than routine stuff. I am not happy with this vehicle, drives like a bus, has major quality issues, and trying to operate the radio while driving is a joke.

  • Great Volvo XC90 - 2005 Volvo XC90

This car is fun to drive, comfortable, easy to maneuver, great to look at, and most important safe. I feel very confident that I have the best protection available in a car. The XC90 handles very well. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat. Like all SUVs I wish it had better gas mileage but safety is worth it.

  • Nice suv smooth ride - 2005 Volvo XC90

It rides great and has nice power. Great room and comfort. Some interior defects like a door handle coming off and a broken seat stop. I have owned it one month - 4000 miles on it.

  • Family car - 2005 Volvo XC90

Great car and safety features are excellent. Family of 5 when we bought and now a family of 7 and still driving. We pack light, put a cargo holder on the roof and take off on the road.

  • A very good car to Consider - 2005 Volvo XC90

I have owned this car for 8 months and have enjoyed it immensely. It rides well, it handles well and is very flexible. I drive it long distances and find myself well rested. The view is great and it holds the road well. The down sides are the mileage is not great. Also, here in Europe, it is sometimes difficult to park in the tiny spaces, but still a winner to me.

I bought a 2005 Volvo XC90 new in Feb of 2006 at the dealership in Athens GA. In Dec. of 2011, transmission had to be rebuilt at 87,000 miles for $4200 - dealership wanted $6500. Then in April 2012 at 92,000 miles, the engine started knocking - balance rod failure. I looked on line and Volvo has known that both these failures could occur in this make and model. Never did I receive any recall or info. I contacted Volvo of North America who offered no help to pay for these repairs. I did not rebuild engine - would cost almost what car was worth. I sold it to an auction company for $3600. Now drive a Toyota Highlander. Will never trust Volvo again.

I was number 11 when i bought my volvo when it came out. i love the truck but here are some problems i experienced. Turbo lag @ 3000 rpm, leaks in tail light allowing water in, misaligned steering wheel slightly, an unusual sound in my engine that led to a broken transmission that needed replacement a year ago, depleted steering fluid @ 20,000 with reason unknown, engine hose leaking that needs replacing @ 30,000 miles, 4 tires worn out @ 30,000 miles, 2X changed front brakes, front rotor change last December. I have a Toyota that does not have most of his problem. Despite of everything I still like my truck, probably due to safety and looks, who knows
