This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, there is a refreshed instrument panel and cabin trim, a new climate control system and a new radio. Most trims also see a new leather-wrapped, multifunction steering wheel and standard Bluetooth connectivity. An iPod connection becomes a separate option (you had to get the navigation system before) while the SportWagen loses its SEL trim level and the accompanying turbocharged engine. The sport-tuned GLI has been discontinued. Finally, there's a new Limited Edition trim and the TDI Cup "Street" Edition debuts with an extra helping of tuner flavor.

Pros:
  • Diverse selection of strong engines, stellar fuel economy in TDI trim, upscale look and feel, comfortable seats, impressive cargo capacity in both body styles, pleasant ride.
Cons:
  • Below-average fuel economy with 2.5-liter engine, lackluster brake performance, small backseat compared to midsize competitors.

  • Great Value - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

As this is my 4th VW, I thought I knew of all the features this car offered but several time with the past 2 weeks of ownership Ive found new features that my Rabbit did not have. Performance, comfort, features and free maint for 36K miles cannot be beat.

I am experiencing the hesitation too - to the point that I have almost been hit a few times. So now I wait and not try to cut in traffic.

I just purchased a TDI jetta and love it. However, I have experienced the "hesitation " to the point I have almost been hit a few times. You are right in that you have to come to a complete stop for a few seconds then it seems to be ok, but not if you are in traffic and someone tells you to "go ahead" So now I just wait when I can and let the traffic go ahead

  • Really great daily driver! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

We bought our 2010 Jetta brand new in 2009. It was so sporty! took corners really well, plenty of power, great steering. I absolutely LOVED the interior- soft touch materials and everything fit together really well. The controls were super easy to use, and the seats were great. Our Jetta got upwards of 35 MPG on the highway. Got lots of compliments on the car- it was black with 19" alloys. Other than routine maintenance, it held up VERY well. The only thing to go wrong was a seal on the door that failed. Got it re-glued and that was ok. The other issue was that while going through a car wash, the guy drying the car wiped the "Jetta" letters right off the back. Id recommend it! :)

  • The right car after a long search. - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

I was looking for a car with good fuel efficiency, comfortable to travel home from Minneapolis to Bismarck, and room for bicycles in the summer and 210cm cross country skis in the winter. Crash safety was also very important. After narrowing it down to the Jetta and a Subaru Impreza, I chose the Jetta. The manual is a much more tricky than any Ive ever used, but once you get the hang of it, its not too bad. Expect to kill the engine now and again. Theres tons of space in the trunk. It is better than hatchback versions of the Subaru and Mazda3 I drove in terms of space and ski/bike fit. The seats are very comfortable, and I fit well in the drivers area. Good visibility.

  • Not happy with reliability - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I bought a 2010 model Sportwagon TDI in January 2011. Last model available on clearance sale. It is the fully loaded one with the huge sunroof and all the goodies. DSG transmission. Had it 3 and half years it has 70K on in and this is the list of problems I have had. Sun roof problem Injector failure Injector wire harness failure Transmission cap broke and leaked tranny fluid out. Now the AC went out this weekend The transmission is extremely expensive to do regular maintenance on. I would only recommend a stick shift to anyone buying a VW TDI.

  • I really wish I could say I like it - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

This is my 4th VW. Its my 2nd TDI. I loved my previous TDI. This one, not so much. I am the 2nd owner having bought it 7/13 with ~17K miles. I have put almost 40K miles on it. It is far more powerful than my previous TDI but fuel economy does not match it either. I have not really had any mechanical issues. Just routine maintenence. I should really like this car but I am just not happy with it. There is a resonance (buzz) in the dash between 1500 & 1800rpm which is where I end up running most of the time. The sunroof shade also rattles. The seats are just not comfortable to me. Im not a slender person but Im not morbidly obese either. The side bolsters on the seats make them too narrow.

  • A Lot of Car For Your Money! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I have owned this car for about 2 weeks ago and Ive been really enjoying it. I had a Hyundai Sonata SE V6 before this and the gas mileage was pretty dismal (around 22 mpg combined). Now with this car I am getting about 30 mpg combined which really benefits as gas prices are going up and my commute got longer. The ride is comfortable even for a sports suspension. Going over rocks or bumps doesnt rattle the car, it stays sturdy. The car is fast, that is for sure. The 200 horsepower direct injection 2.0 L turbo engine is outstanding and it really takes off at about 2,000 rpm. The interior is very well laid out, seems like a much more expensive car inside. Get out and look at this car!

  • Sport utility for people who love cars - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Fantastic car. Was always a fan of VW quality and driving dynamics, though got spooked into Asian cars a few years ago due to reliability woes. This car, though, with its perfect combination of driving dynamics, utility, efficiency, build quality, and understated good looks called me with her siren song. Improving VW reliability of late, tax credit, and great price made it irresistible. Traded in a Honda Civic, which was bullet proof, though tired of driving an appliance. Feels great to be enjoying German driving experience again. Avg 32 mpg in town, 45 on the hwy.

  • 2010 Jetta LE 1 Month review - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

Have had this car for 1 month. I quite like it for the price; I turned out around $23k for the LE with sunroof and a few other extras. A friend told me the Jetta was a "poor mans BMW." Well, I used to own a BMW 3-series, and overall value for the VW has impressed me so far. For slightly over half the BMW price I have a German car...granted built in Mexico...but a good solid feel and ride. Decent power, and cruises the freeway at 90 mph quite well. Some reviews mention poor braking--I dont get that impression. Also, some other reviews mention engine noise; I dont find it "noisy" at all...a little growl that I kinda like.
