  • Fun to Drive, and Great Daily Driver - 2010 Volkswagen GTI
    By -

Probably not a traditional GTI buyer as I am in my fifties and am accustomed to driving Acuras and Infinitis. But was really looking for a vehicle this time around that is a blast to drive, while at the same time civilized enough to provide comfort for long trips. The GTI fits the bill precisely. The car never fails to put a smile on my face and it is a hoot to downshift and throw the vehicle into a tight curve. Then hit the gas and rip out of the curve. That just never gets old! With that said, the car has a very comfortable ride and does not wear you out on a long trip. Very pleased with this vehicle.

I was looking for a car to replace my 2000 Acura RL. I wanted a car that was fun to drive above all else, but also one that was a good daily driver and fit my active lifestyle. I considered the following vehicles: Acura TSX, BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Mazdaspeed 3, VW CC and GTI, and Subaru WRX and STi. In the end the GTI ended up winning. It is, IMO, the best combination of fun to drive and nice to live with for the money. This car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. If you are looking for a car to love, not just drive, I highly recommend it. I love mine. My wife and I did a 3700 mile road trip in it, and it was flawless.

  • What a Hottie! - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

After one test drive, I was won over by the mechanical refinement and supple, elegant interior. It makes competitors (I will not name names here) feel like cheap, crude toys. The GTI offers a satisfying balance of zip & zoom, price, comfort, and luxury.

  • Best car for the money - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

I’ve been a BMW guy my entire life but as I get older, I’ve started placing much more emphasis on value. I spend a lot of time in my car and therefore wanted a car that is fun to drive, comfortable, stylish but utilitarian. After extensive research and studying my key numbers (0 to 60, mpg, and $ ), the GTI was by far the best in class. I’ve had this car for two months now and find it very comfortable and quiet. The quality of workmanship is also beyond my expectation for a car in this price range. Though I wasn’t really after exclusivity, this is not a car that you see very often. In my daily driving here is the high volume la traffic, I’ve only seen two 2010 gtis thus far.

Traded in my Audi A3 3.2 Quattro after three years. This GTI is more fun to drive, and is a better mix of great handling and comfortable ride. The exterior styling is good (better than 09), but the interior is what makes the car great. Solid, hi-luxe feel. I got the Dynaudio system (get it..it rocks), the leather (was nice in my MK IV, and nice here), Nav (didnt need it, but it beats the Audis nav), and the Black Karthoum Wheels (dealership had to order). This car is fast, fun, and feels like I spent a ton more than I did, even with all the options I added. Nice work, VW! Oh, and my mileage is WAY better than with the Audi.

  • Drives great - but noisy - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

Wonderful care to drive - handling and feel are top notch. On a recent 5000 mile road trip I experienced no discomforts and exceeded 31 mpg easily. Problem is build quality is poor. The car has been full of rattles and squeaks since day 1, has some misaligned trim and is considerably under-optioned compared to its competitors (and also its predecessor) examples: climate control, auto-dimming mirror

  • THE original hot hatch. - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

Coming from a 94 325i, I was looking for something that was as fun to drive, but would also be kind to my wallet. This fine machine fits the bill perfectly, putting a silly grin on your face every time you press the accelerator, unleashing that sonorous tone from the two chrome-tipped exhaust pipes. If you are sensible with the throttle, the car is even capable of 34 mpg on the highway, which is amazing, considering what this is capable of. Handling is fairly neutral until you really push it, at which point you are reminded its FWD. The interior makes you feel as if you are in a vehicle costing thousands more, perhaps tens of thousands. The quality of the materials is really that good

  • Best Gti Ever - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

I have had this car for a few weeks. I have put 500 miles on it so far. I have been looking for any type of manufacturing defects but have not found one yet.

  • 1st GTI___Im SOLD - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

Bought on Halloween. Surprisingly fun to drive. Corners VERY well, great acceleration, drives great and TURNS HEADS. A few minor dislikes. Bluetooth has NO functionality at all. You can answer call, thats it. Have to physically touch phone to make a call (not a huge deal). Has no internal hatch release (other than emergency release in back near hatch door.) 2 Dr is very difficult to get to rear seat despite fancy new way to move front seat forward. No way to view a to-date cumulative MPG consumption as it resets itself when you turn the car off. Love the turn signals on the inside of the mirrors as well as out.

  • On Tap Instant Exhilaration - 2010 Volkswagen GTI

"After you read my review you are all going to think VW paid me to say this: Nothing could be farther from the truth. I bought my 2010 GTI 2 dr in Candy White w/DSG paddle shifter- equipped Automatic. This car is sleek, stealthy and a head-turner when freshly washed. I make up excuses daily to drive it as frequently as possible. This little hot hatch is truly fun to drive. The turbo is responsive & the shifting is absolutely spot on when using the manual mode. It handles superbly, reminiscent of a souped up go- kart. The exhaust note is just perfect as is the sound emanating from the resonated air box under the hood. I cant get good gas mileage w/this pocket rocket. A true & true fun car!
