This Year's Model Updates:

The Toyota Sienna receives more standard equipment for 2006. Most importantly, the formerly optional front side-impact airbags and three-row head-protecting side curtain airbags are standard on all Siennas this year. Other changes include new seat fabric for the CE and LE trims and Optitron gauges for LE, XLE and XLE Limited models. The XLE also has dual power front seats this year, and the XLE Limited gains driver-seat memory. There's also a new power-folding rear seat option on XLE Limited 2WD models. In addition, all Siennas receive a new grille, headlamps, foglamps and taillamp clusters. Finally, revised SAE testing procedures have dropped the van's stated horsepower rating from 230 to 215.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride, refined V6, packed with safety and convenience features, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, above-average fuel economy, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • A bit too much lean in the corners, seat comfort and noise isolation could be better, expensive option packages.

  • Average Mini Van - 2006 Toyota Sienna

Purchased a 2006 CE 7 passanger Sienna new. The vehicle now has 160,000 kms. The vehicle had some early issues. The air bag light came on and took 2 years to resolve. Had to fight Toyota and dealer all the way. Finally replaced main wiring harness. Also had to replace drivers door (yes the whole door) due to broken hinges. All covered by Toyota. Other than that the vehicle has been good. It has plenty of power and is comfortable on long trips. My van is a box stock CE. From what I hear people with the fancy ones have more problems.

  • Great Vehicle, Good Price, Poor Stereo - 2006 Toyota Sienna

I purchased my 2006 Sienna six months ago and Im very impressed with the vehicle. It has a very nice interior with and 8 full size seats. The only minivan with three full size seats in the second row. The center second row adjustable seat is great for infants in car seats. The trunk can adequately handle the luggage for eight passengers. The engine is powerful and smooth. The stereo system sounds very basic and inadequate for such and excellent vehicle. The ride is quite and smooth.

  • A very good, if somewhat "vanilla", van - 2006 Toyota Sienna

Good, but not perfect by any means. Having come from a 2002 Honda Odyssey, I immediately noticed several shortcomings in the Sienna. The Honda engine was much more powerful, especially at takeoff. Furthermore, the Honda had power doors on BOTH sides, instead of just the right side. However, my transmission went out on my Honda after 70,000 miles so Ill gladly trade some power and a powered sliding door for better dependability. However, it just seems somewhat less "advanced" than my 2002 Odyssey did. If the Odyssey is the hot cheerleader who may love you one day, only to leave you for someone else the next, the Sienna is the tried and true girl next door who you can count on to be there.

  • Sienna LE 06 pkg 4 - 2006 Toyota Sienna

Great and very accessible features for a family of 4 or more. Handles very well. Owned a dodge van before and there is no comparison in quality and reliability. Toyota stands behind their product.

  • Not a minivan gal till now - 2006 Toyota Sienna

I have the Sienna LE AWD. My mileage is not the best compared to the LE, but I also take my van places most dont attempt. Having AWD I feel much more comfortable with my sons friends and their moms out in the woods, or in the snow, or on sand!! Its smooth, fun and safe to drive. I was disappointed with the fact that there was not any bargaining room with the cost - I was told that only the LE, I could have bargained with. I went from driving small cars to now a vehicle I swore Id never drive (minivan). I love it, and my son really does. And gosh - hes now extremely safe. Thank you Toyota.

  • Very good family car, smooth driving - 2006 Toyota Sienna

The van is very roomy, comfy, quiet, smooth. Got 25-26 MPG on highway. 23 MPG combined.

  • Impressed, but not overwhelmed - 2006 Toyota Sienna

I wasnt looking forward to a minivan, but I really like the Sienna. Its fun to drive and looks good. Well built, very useful whether youre hauling a pack of kids or a load of building supplies. Its comfortable, but being 63", the front seats dont go back enough and it feels cramped driving it. Mileage is fine at 20 mpg in mixed driving. We bought it new looking for a reliable car that would last 10 years, and so far its ok, except we have been in the the shop for a few small issues - the CD changer failed twice, wheel noise when turning sharply, automatic rear door was catching/grinding.

  • Happy but Expected Better Performance - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Bodystyle=fabulous. Interior luxury=Lexus. Love flexibility of fold down rear seats & seat configurations. Automatic side & rear doors=priceless. Sound system=awesome w/ great source options. Absolutely agree- needs front cntrl of DVD player. Want to use it w/little kids, have to stop car & climb back. Very disappointed w/ power of engine - has to upshift on slightest hill @ avg wghts-& fuel economy=16.4 mpg @ 50/50 driving. Front psngr seat=very uncomfortable-only 4way- very short& it feels like I’m going to fall out of it; I am only 5’6”. Have not taken it for a long trip-I don’t see being able to sit in the passenger seat for > 1 hr. Back seats=great. Overall=happy but for price- should be thrilled.

  • Toyota Rattle and Hum - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Traded 2004 Sienna XLE AWD in for the 06 as the 04 rattled like crazy. Well the rattling is not quite as bad, but for the most expensive mini van made, it shouldnt. As well, 3 of the seats have come apart, the DVD has never worked, the side door has stuck open costing a $140 cab ride to return to the dealership which Toyota has yet to refund. On top of that the rear side windows and side doors rattle although not as bad as the 04. Would never buy another Toyota again.

  • Smooth like a Lexus but not quite there - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Having owned this car for a while now, I have very mixed feelings about it. Its smooth and refined like my Lexus but has very mediocre interior ergonomics that are very un-Lexus-like. Its very easy to love the features; HID lighting, AWD, Nav, laser-cruise control, bluetooth, DVD, comfy leather seats; but somehow, Toyota didnt get some of the basics right. The frequently used climate control buttons are small and mislabeled. The 2nd row seats constantly rattle and squeak. The run-flat tires are truly terrible but at least warranted by Toyota. Fuel economy was terrible at first but is improving with age.
