This Year's Model Updates:

XLE and XLE Limited models now offer a power-adjustable passenger seat.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride, refined V6, fold-flat 60/40 third-row seat, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, great fuel economy, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • A bit too much lean in the corners, seat comfort and noise isolation could be better, expensive option packages.

  • Comparative shopped - 2005 Toyota Sienna

I researched vans for 3 months before deciding on the Toyota and the features I wanted. Although there are a few things I dont like, I know I would not be happy with any other van. I narrowed my choices to the Honda and Toyota and test drove each 3 times. Went straight from the Honda dealer to the Toyota dealer so that there was minimal time in between drives to compare. Toyota offers a quieter, smoother and more comfortable ride than Honda. If youre used to heated seats, youre in for quite a disappointment. My van has 7000 miles, the seat cushions have already been replaced and you can not feel the heat at all unless bare skin is touching the leather. Then it just luke warm.

  • The Lexus of Minivans - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Weve owned Town and Country Minivans and an Honda Odsy. This Toyota is the most luxurious by far, very quiet and smooth riding. Fuel economy is not great, 16 mpg average over 22,000 miles. Visibility is very good, storage is awesome. Laser cruise control is really nice, rear camera is tops. Thoughtful interior touches are everywhere and, the quality of materials is as good as it gets.

  • New LE 8 pass over the Odyssey - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

We purchased a 2005 LE-8 pass with pkg 8 (DVD etc). We selected it over the odyssey for the two reasons that the 8th seat is much more comfortable than the middle/middle seat in the ody and because it can tow our tent trailer easier. I liked the guages, auto-temp control, dual power doors, 6 disc CD, and handling on the ody. However, with 3 sons and tons of camping trips - I needed 3 comfortable seats in the middle and Honda blew it. Seat fabric is fair (shows wear from our car seat after two months) and the pull cords for the seat recliners is a pain. Sienna has 3rd row vent windows, better 2nd row fold/tumble seats, smoother transmission, better pricing- $5k off price. so far so good.

  • Not a home run, but at least a triple - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Our Toyota Sienna has been nearly perfect. There are a few things that annoy. Locking out the passenger windows also means the driver cant use them. There is not retained power so if you stop for minute you loose all power including radio and DVD. Maybe not a big deal but when the kids movie has to be started all over again its a pain. The engine power is great and it is very comfortable inside. You will never run out of room inside.

  • Quality and lack of company concern - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

The first two years of ownership of a 2005 Sienna CE were good, but in the last two months I had repair bills of $2000.00. Radiator leaked/replaced. Power steering rack and steering shaft needed to be replaced. The response from headquarters was, too bad, your warranty is over. Right now I am looking to try something else, maybe even a Dodge Caravan. In this tight market out there I was just surprised by the lack of interest to make me a happy owner of a Toyota product.

  • Great minivan for all family needs. - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This is our first Toyota minivan. We just got back from 3000 mile trip to southern Texas, and Sienna performed very well. I was actually impressed with the gas mileage: on interstate we got consistently 25-26 mpg using medium fuel grade. In town driving something like 17-18 mpg. It is very spacious minivan, and I really like its looks. Our kids just love it!

  • Not what I expected - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

We previously owned 2 Chrysler products, 1 T&C Limited and 1 Grand Caravan ES. These were both solid performers. We "upgraded" to the Sienna and so far have been only minimally impressed with the vehicle. Acceleration is lacking, body lean is major, steering is light, sunroof rattles and the JBL radio is terrible. Mileage has not been that impressive. Removal of center seats are demanding. Several minor issues were also noted upon delivery of the vehicle. Missing screws in wheel wells, loose molding etc. Quality and reputation brought us to the Toyota. However, based on our past two vans, it is no better than the competition.

  • 2005 Sienna Disappointed - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Thought Toyota would stand behind their vehicles better. Have had on and off problems with the airbag sensors for 3 years, ultimately cost $3500 to resolve the bad wiring harness. Toyota National said too bad, you arent in warranty and since this is your first Toyota, you are not brand loyal yet. Will go somewhere else on the next vehicle. Disappointed. Hard to believe in this economy they have too many customers and can show that level of disinterest.

  • Second Best Minivan - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

The 04 Sienna is a great minivan with plenty of space, (Third row should only be used by small children.) great interior build quality which exeeds every other minivan and looks that arent too shabby for a minivan. Our Sienna has had no problems excluding a flat tire because of a nail on the road and one time someone keyed our car. No mechanical problems at all. If you buy a Sienna, you will be rewarded with a solid family vehicle that stands up to the normal family schedual.

  • My first Sienn - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

When I test drove this minivan, there was no comparison between it and the competition. I drove the Honda Odyssey as well, but elected to buy the Sienna because of the AWD feature. My two biggest disappointments are the drivers seat and economy. I am disappointed in the seat comfort for the drivers side because leg room is lacking and the seat is too short for proper support of the leg. I feel like Im sitting on the edge of the seat. The economy is rated at 19-24, but it hasnt seen 20 yet, and only a time or two has 19 mpg been achieved. The van is solid, reliable, and fun to drive with enough power under the hood. The AWD feature works wonderfully in the inclement weather.
