This Year's Model Updates:

XLE and XLE Limited models now offer a power-adjustable passenger seat.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride, refined V6, fold-flat 60/40 third-row seat, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, great fuel economy, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • A bit too much lean in the corners, seat comfort and noise isolation could be better, expensive option packages.

  • Tires replaced to often! - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I bought the 2005 Limited Sienna Van brand new. We have had to replace the tires every 23 to 26,000 miles. We have had the tires rotated, alligned and balanced as suggested. The tire manufactures cannot figure out why the tires will not last and have been replacing them free because they are not lasting until the warranty period is up. Firestone has given us 3 free sets of tires, Gateway gave us 1 free and 1 prorated. The local Toyota service manager told me that this is just the way the vans ride and it is normal????? BEWARE

  • CE: Road Noise/Rough Ride - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

The Sienna CE is our second Toyota minivan, and we purchsed it due to the outstanding reliability of our 93 Toyota Previa minivan. The Sienna is a good overall value, but has an unacceptable level of road noise for a Toyota. The ride is equally out of character for Toyota quality. Both issues are evident and compounded on long trips. Our 13 year old Previa has a better ride that our new Sienna. The Sienna CE is not for the family that travels.

  • TOYOTA SIENNA - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Would like to have had six cd changer-got navigation and was told could not have 6cd changer. Premium gas only? Great ride sometimes light/mpg so far 16.5. Hope it improves. Arm rest/driver awkward to adjust on right side. For price, need more features.

  • Nice Van but a few flaws - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Toyota builds a fine van but it is a bit pricy and gets lousy fuel mileage. My main complaint is the run-flat tires on the AWD models. They are garbage. No one carries replacemants and they do NOT take the place of a spare. I got a flat on a major interstate and had to get my van towed because Toyota provides no spare on AWD models. It was a very expensive lesson.

  • Beware of AWD - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Purchased the 2005 XLE Limited in Oct 2004. Ordered it fully loaded (dvd-Nav- etc) with 2 wheel drive. Was delivered as AWD and dealer convinced me it would be no problem. Shame on me !!! After 28000 miles it has averaged 18.3 MPG overall (mostly highway), has had one set of new tires and already shows 40% wear on second set !! At $1156 per set, this figures out to approx $100 per Mo. for tires alone !!! Wanna buy one--- "Have I got a deal for you" !!!

  • Great 1st Minivan - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This is our first endeavour into the minivan world. As BMW and Subaru drivers, this was a new experience for us. Suprisingly, we love to drive it! It drives like the car and there are many more comfort features than in the BMW. During our first week, we put it through the paces with a 300 mile trip to our vacation. MPG was awesome at 26 MPG. Navigating through the cabin to take care of our son was a breeze. The seats fold down/up so quickly, it is extremely useful. And the ride, no matter where you are sitting is extremely comfortable. We made the right decision with this vehicle.

  • My first Toyota and some problems - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

The van has been nice for our family of four. It is very nice on road trips so the kids can spread out. We bought the LE model and now Im wondering if the XLE would have been better since it has leather and the power rear gate. Our average mileage has been 20mpg. Not as high as the sticker, but are they ever? This is our first Toyota and we expect high quality due to their reputation. Were disappointed with quality issues weve had with sliding door noise and design of radio is the pits. In sunshine the radio display can be impossible to read.

  • AWD Tire Problem - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Weve driven our Sienna XLE AWD van for 17,000 miles. The van itself is a great design. The all wheel drive works perfectly in the snow. Toyotas decision to eliminate the spare tire and use run-flat tires was a major mistake. At 16,000 miles I had to spend $500 to replace two tires. The other two arent far behind. The run- flat tires make the van ride like a truck, are un-reliable, over-priced, impossible to find, and and short lived.

  • Just got it four days ago - 2005 Toyota Sienna

This is the most well thought out vehicle Ive owned. The interior features are outstanding - the cup holders, hooks, controls, folding seats, console, everything. Great convenience. Great handling for a van. Previously had a 2002 Sienna, which we liked, but this is a huge improvement. Also own a 2004 Lexus 330 ES and the van compares favorably for creature comforts and handling.

  • We have owned this van 4 years now..... - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Not a bad van by any means. We have grown very comfortable with it and can rely on it to get us were we need to be every time. When we first bought it (pre-owned) we had an intermittent problem with the front blower not working. In troubleshooting that it seemed as though the "techs" had torn into the problem and never located the culprit....The relay had a manufacturing defect; as did the rest of the identical ones in the van. After ordering replacement relays (From Japan and not Tennessee as were the factory ones) it has worked finer ever since. Sometimes it is worth it to buy parts that are built correctly !!!
