This Year's Model Updates:

The Sequoia is virtually unchanged for 2002. SR5 models have two additional stand-alone options this year: keyless remote and front foglamps.

Pros:
  • Ultra-refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, impeccable build quality.
Cons:
  • Non-descript styling, comparably low towing capacity.

  • 3rd after BMW 4.6i and new Lexus GX 470 - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

I just love this SUV. So if you are able to affords BMW 4.6i or new avaiable in 5-6 months Lexus GX 470, you will not find better SUV on the market. Yes you can get Lincoln Navigator but fully loaded is about 15G more expensive then fully loaded Sequoia. Otherwise Sequoia is so far ahead of others - just crushing the competition.

  • Great for Long Vacation - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

I bought the Limited 4x4 5/1/02 and have put 4000 miles on it. 2300 miles coming on a trip from Minnesota to Yellowstone in one week. The ride was great as I never got tired or cramped as I have on long trips in other vehicles. I averaged about 17 mpg overall for the trip which included the mountains. Gas mileage has improved as more miles have been put on. I have encountered no problems at all with this vehicle.

Finally a high quality, full-size SUV. It is great to have another choice!

  • LOVE IT - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

This is my first Toyota. I plan on buying another of the same one. I love it. Ive owed several SUVs that drive like trucks -very rough - not this one! Smooth like a car. I have a long commute, so it is much appreciated.

The Sequoia is a much quieter ride. There is not a lot of wind noise, rattles and engine noise. The body roll on the Sequoia is less than either the 99 Suburban or the 97 4Runner we previously owned. This is the closest SUV Ive driven that feels like a car. You dont feel that tilt near as much when taking a fast turn. Overall I like this vehicle quite a bit over any other large-extra large SUV.

  • Great Family Vehicle - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Our family of 5 (3 boys) and friends can ride comfortably in this SUV The drive is incredible. We have had numerous SUVs. My husband was a die hard Chevy man and Toyota has changed him!

  • Very cool vehicle - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Have only owned it 4 months/4000 miles but I love it. Uses a lot of gas (avg 15.2 mpg mostly city driving). Lots of room inside, comfortable seats. 3rd row easy to remove/install. Rear passenger climate controls are great. Sunroof is huge. Dont care for the default of outside air for a/c rather than recirculate.

  • Almost perfect - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Basically a great vehicle. Faults are poor rearward visability and a hard to read dashboard. With polaroid sunglasses it is unreadable. Why they used dirty white numbers/letters instead of bright white Ill never know. Mileage is good for a vehicle of this size - about 17.5 mpg average including when I tow our 22 ft. Hi-Lo (low profile) trailer.
