  • Poor MPG - 2007 Toyota RAV4

If youre considering the RAV4 for its great milage, consider this... I travel 60 hwy miles, and another 20 on rural roads daily. My ave hwy speed is 72, and Im no leadfoot around town, either. With this mix, I should be getting 25MPG consistently. After 4000 miles traveling the same daily route, my RAV4 averages 21.5MPG. One tank gets 19, the next, 23, and the next 21.5. Dealer says theres nothing wrong. So, if youre considering sacreficing the roominess and comfort of a larger SUV to get better milage with a RAV, think twice.

  • Not an SUV person - 2007 Toyota RAV4

My wife got this car to replace her Ford Windstar. The car handles well and is nice to drive but I think it is uncomfortable on trips of more than 3 hours. We visit our daughter at college, a 3 to 4 hour trip each way and the seats just dont provide the comfort for that kind of trip. The van was so much better. The radio is also not up to par, they should have provided something better on a vehicle in this price range.

  • RAV4s are GREAT SUVs - 2007 Toyota RAV4

My V6 RAV4 Sport 4WD has so much content and quality for a $25k SUV that one year later Im still amazed at how Toyota did it. I live in the Mojave Desert and the optional "Tow Prep Package" w/bigger radiator & heavy duty alternator is a blessing. From all the many standard "Star Safety System" features - standard on ALL models - to the competence of the vehicle in many situations from the highway to rocky roads to snow to the speed (the V6 is a hot rod!) to the great mileage which, according to my ScanGauge II data center I installed, is right on at 27 mpg highway. This is still the best SUV for the money when power, mileage and quality are factored into the equation.

  • Three Months and Going Strong - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

We have now owned our RAV4 for about 3 months and I love driving it! We were seriously looking at the Honda CR-V also (I was replacing a Honda Accord which I loved) but frankly didnt think the interior CR-V features were up to speed with the RAV4. Only issue we have had is a problem with tire inflation on driver side. It keeps losing air for no apparent reason. This is a great vehicle for moving or purchase of large or awkward items which cannot easily fit in a car. Sure do love it!!

  • Buy V6 youll be glad, but beware... - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Dont hesitate to pay the extra bucks to buy the V6. If you dont youll wish you had. On automatics, make sure you put the automatic shift lever in D not 4th gear. When a driver pulls the lever into drive, the shift gate tends to lead you to 4th gear rather than D and I suspect drivers who get low mileage are doing this because the engine doesnt rev that high in 4. When we first got the RAV4, I drove many highway miles in gear 4 without realizing it and my mileage suffered badly.

  • VVT OIL hose Failure. Engine replacement - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Just like the post from Deb on 05/05/2009, last month my 2007 Toyota rav 4 with v6 and 38,000 kms had its vvt hose break spraying oil in engine compartment but no engine light came on. Caused engine failure. Had to replace the engine - wasnt easy but they did it under warranty after pushing them hard.

  • 2007 Rav4 $1700.00 Water eva System - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Original owner 66949 miles. Symptom Check Engine lite/ Swerve tires lite & VSC lite. Advised "cracked" Canister (77740-0R010) $1000.00 no ryme or reason given. Repair done in 2hrs, very unhappy & will be trading in for another brand near future. I feel this was design flaw in system & toyota not taking resposibility. My next car wont be Toyota. kkb3130

  • Fun to Drive with reservations - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Good: Many trips with family and dog via 3rd row seating. Love the V6. Has great pull into traffic. Lots of room, especially in the cargo. 61k miles in 4 years. Great little basic car. Runs smoothly and well. My paint/finish is holding up well. Negative: Replaced Driving Shaft @dealer =$500. Broken Joint on shaft. Should have a recall on that since it seems to be common that should not happen on a car this new. Interior does seem kind of loud and seats are basic. Dont like the floor mats.(hard to clean) Needs stronger front bumper. Wheel wells also rusting out, would like better coverage on the hubcaps.

  • OK Cute Ute - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

I bought the RAV4 for the deal. Its a very solidly built, peppy little SUV with decent (not great) mpg, easy handling and pretty good looks. The drivetrain and ride lack refinement. Toyotas been building these 4cyls and 4 speeds for years and they should be a lot smoother.

  • Great Car/Cruise Control Worthless - 2007 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Layout and design is the best out of all the other SUVs I have looked at. More leg room in rear than any other SUV. Overall it is just what I was looking for. Fuel mileage is acceptable and power is good for a 4 cylinder. Handling and ride are good along with attention to detail when building. If you buy this vehicle just dont plan on using cruise control if you get a 4 cylinder version. You will not be happy with the way it performs. Before you buy do a search for 06 and 07 RAV4 cruise control problems and you will see what I am talking about. Toyota dropped the ball on this one.
