  • Very Disappointed - 2006 Toyota RAV4

The reason Ive given this vehicle such a low rating is it has left me in an unsafe situation more than once. Twice when I was trying to pull into another lane of traffic the automatic transmission did not downshift, but instead stayed in a higher gear and left me in a scary position with oncoming traffic. This is why I gave it such a low rating in the perfomance, fun to drive, build quality and reliability areas. During the first couple thousand miles the brakes would fade even during the first hard braking. They are better now, but it seems the me larger/better brakes are called for on the vehicle. Gas mileage could be better, but it seems to be improving with mileage.

  • First Toyota; Impressions - 2006 Toyota RAV4

My first toyota: Rav4. Overall, its solid, and I think I am glad I purchased it. 4cyl engine is powerful, but NOISY and harsh. Not refined or quiet as Toyotas reputation. Stereo is just average. Fuel economy is not good. Im getting 23MPG. If I had to do it over again, I would consider other more fuel efficient cars.

  • Havent even driven 100 miles yet. - 2006 Toyota RAV4

We havent even driven it 100 miles yet, but so far, we love everything about it. The 6 is really hot, and a big 6 that uses regular is certainly important nowadays. We also love the contemporary styling We pretty much loaded the vehicle with options, and all of them work very well and none seem extraneous or extravagant.

  • Great Crossover SUV. - 2006 Toyota RAV4

The latest (3rd generation) RAV4 has it all: Plenty of room for driver, passengers, and cargo; V6 power to weight ratio worthy of a sports car; surprisingly fuel efficient for a 3.5l V6; Toyota quality and reliability. Ive driven my new RAV4 daily since the end of April and it continues to impress me. Dont bother with the optional 3rd row seat because the 2nd row seats needs to be pushed all the way forward to accomodate 2 adults in the 3rd row for short trips.

  • 2006 RAV4 Limited V6 - 2006 Toyota RAV4

This car is very fun to drive. I love the pick-up/speed it has. I love its small size (easy to park/maneuver in traffic, etc), but it also offer a lot of power. I love the 3rd row seat/fold flat capability.

Bought rav4 for the quality and its been great in the snow and it did have 29000 when purchased. Few minor things, air pressure warning problems, some brake issues.

  • This is a GREAT little car! - 2006 Toyota RAV4

I had trouble with availablity of LTD V6, especially in Everglade Metallic, and so probably paid more than I should have BUT I love this car! I have no regrets having opted for the V6. It has so much pep and, as a result, is a lot of fun to drive. As for the reduced gas mileage, well, think again. Ive taken two highway trips so far and both times got 31 mpg. On local mountain roads Im averaging just over 24 mpg. Needless to say, Im very pleased. Ive not been back to actual stop and go traffic yet, so cannot comment on actual city driving. In sum, this is a great little (not so little anymore) car. I highly recommend it. Im having a bit of a problem getting the rear seats to go down using the one- touch lever. Im planning to check it out at dealer with first oil change

  • The RAV 4 Limited for 2006 is great!!! - 2006 Toyota RAV4

This car is wonderful. I previously have owned a 2003 RAV 4 L, and still like it very much. The 2006 model, is really very well designed and a lot of fun to drive. The improvements over the 2003 model include a nice feature of automatic fold-down seats in the passenger area, and more interior room. We will enjoy both cars very much.

  • Dont Buy 4 Cyl 4WD - 2006 Toyota RAV4

When I read the reviews last fall, this sounded like a great vehicle. The dealer didnt have any RAVs in stock when I ordered, but I figured the pre-delivery test drive would indicate if I would be happy with it. What a huge mistake and disappointment. I should have test driven where I drive daily. I live in the mountains of Northern AZ (Flag, Prescott area), but I thought 166 horsepower should be adequate in a smaller vehicle. The transmission constantly downshifts on practically every uphill section, which of course is ruining my mileage. Even trying to maximize economy after 1500 miles I have yet to average 20 mpg for even one tank. Not worth $25K for a 4 cyl. Spend the extra $ for V6.

  • AWESOME! - 2006 Toyota RAV4
    By -

I test drove every small to mid sized SUV under the 50K price tag; the V6 Rav4 Sport beat anything else out there. A few came close, but they were 15 to 20K more! With 269HP under the hood, its got a lot of pickup, it handles great, and its a very smooth ride. Ive gotten great gas mileage, better than I had expected. Im impressed with everything about this vehicle.
