Overview & Reviews
Toyota's midsize SUV is fully redesigned for 2008. Significantly larger than the original, the 2008 Highlander features a standard V6 engine and a habitable third-row seat.
- Powerful and fuel-efficient V6, easy to maneuver for its size, user-friendly cabin design with reconfigurable second-row seats and a fully usable third row.
- Third-row seat folds as a single unit rather than in 50/50 sections.

Happy Highlander Owner - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Mike - September 19 - 5:46 amWe traded in a 2006 Lexus GS 300 for the 2008 Highlander Sport in January of 2008. The Highlander rides like a high end luxury sedan but offers much more room in the interior and a very comfortable ride. I like the new exterior design that just came out. We never gave the Highlander a second look until the new 2008 style. The Highlander is my first Toyota purchase and I will likely buy another again.

Long Ride Comfort - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Tregos - September 12 - 10:13 pmI traded my high mileage Subaru Outback for the new 2008 Highlander Limited. I wanted to get back into something with more room. I researched for 6 months before deciding that the Highlander was the best crossover SUV. I chose the Highlander over the Subaru Tribeca, my second choice SUV, because of gas mileage and the larger gas tank in the Highlander. Ive been driving the Highlander for over a week and must say that the ride is smooth and quiet and it is very comfortable. So far I have absolutely no complaints. The vehicle has been averaging 23/24 MPG on the highway and 15/17 in the city. Not too bad for a large vehicle with 4 wheel drive.

Well Pleased - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Msmacp - September 2 - 6:20 amI am enjoying many wonderful features of my new Highlander. However, I am learning that I was more spoiled than I realized with my Tahoe. Seat comfort on long trips is an issue. There is much more road noise than I have been used to. Would undercoating possibly diminish the noise factor? I attempted to get tires that might be quieter. Due to the size, the tire store owner could not locate options for me with three of the main manufacturers and he did not pursue it any further. Other than that I love not needing to fumble in my purse for the keys all the time. Thats great when your hands are full.

Traded X3 for Highlander - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By DJ - September 1 - 2:26 pmTraded a 2005 BMW X3 for 2008 Highlander sport. BMW just dont offer value for the money anymore on the new X3. Family really likes the Toyota. Softer drive but much more comfortable on Quebec bumpy road. Braking is good and strong with some front dive. Plenty of room for family of 4 with dog. Kids love the captain seat in 2nd row.

Love my Highlander - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Robbar - August 7 - 7:13 amAfter a year and a half of driving our Highlander we have no complaints so far. We are averaging 18.8 mpg in the city and 23 mpg hwy. Good JBL stereo, quick acceleration and comfortable handling. We drive to the ski hill Sat and Sun and with winter tires we havent had any problems. The AWD works well in combination with winter tires. Lots of room for my family. I would definitely buy highlander again and recommend this vehicle.

2008 Highlander - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Bob & Emily - July 4 - 12:36 amVery pleased with all aspects of this car. Gas mileage exceeded our expectations, getting 25.5 mpg on a recent 600 mile trip. We got just under 28 mpg on the way back. So far we seem to be averaging 20 mpg around town. Kids love the room and the third row seat. Great ride, quiet and comfortable. Were glad this vehicle came with the back up camera without having to get the nav. system. We looked for a long time and at lots of different cars, this easily was the best car for us.

Tires on factory Toyota - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Jeff H - June 24 - 10:13 amI have owned Toyotas in the past and was very pleased. with the newer ones though I wonder? Runs great as all Toyotas, great acceleration and braking. The ride is stiff, may be that this replaced a Honda Odyssey (bad van). Seems to have more road noise than previous Toyota models. Overall at this point I would buy another Highlander.

Exteremly Happy - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Eve - June 23 - 7:23 pmI have had a Saturn Vue for several years, and I hated it. The MPG on the Saturn was 19. When the new style Highlander came out, I dragged my husband to the dealer to test drive it. I fell in love with it. I has everything I could want in a SUV. Its the best investment I could ever ask for. And the gas mileage is great. I am getting between 24 to 26 MPG.

Great Mid-Sized SUV - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By Loving - June 21 - 10:26 pmWow, what an outstanding SUV. We were looking at getting the RAV4 and decided to test drive the Highlander. We purchased one shortly afterward. Very nice turning radius. The engine has significant power for only being a V-6. The interior of the Limited is very nice. Very comfortable, lacking in leg support for the long trips though. For an SUV the fuel economy is outstanding at around 21-23 MPG average. We have put over 1500 mi on it in 3 wks and every trip is a blast. Definitely recommend the Sandy Beige color.

Dissapointment in entire toyota nation - 2008 Toyota Highlander
By AKsecurity7035 - June 12 - 9:23 pmI was very confident in Toyota Vehicles, starting from my 98 Camry all the way to my 05 Highlander and Toyota managed to completely destroy my confidence and dedication with my current 08 Highlander Sport. The car has a lot of defects; I dont even know where to begin! Engines horse power doesnt fit cars handling and suspension, brakes are so soft that you have to power press brake pedal, dash board constantly makes cracking noises that cant be fixed, JBL audio system has a lack of engineering all of speakers have been blown a couple of times without any explanation, Dealer is not able to find the problem. Wheel size of sport model only fits Toyo tires
