Overview & Reviews
There are no significant changes to the 2006 Toyota Corolla, although new SAE testing procedures have resulted in lower horsepower ratings.
- High-quality and roomy interior, outstanding gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, illustrious reliability record.
- Awkward driver-seat position, bland on-road personality, gets pricey even when equipped with just the basics.

06 Corolla S - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Big O - March 23 - 8:43 pmI traded a 02 Chevy pickup for this 06 Corolla. We leased it for 0% and then bought it after 36 months for $8900.00. We have 58000 miles on it and it has never failed even at 30 below zero. Some things I thought they (Toyota) would change with the 2010, more interior lights, lighted ignition, better radio. We drive 30 plus miles ever day 7 days a week. We love 30 plus miles per gallon, good ride, nice room inside, good heater. We have had not one thing go wrong, just put gas and oil in it. Toyota Quality!!

The average car - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Scheets - March 23 - 2:00 amI bought it used a few years ago with 50,000 or so miles on it. I now have around 105,000 miles. So far it has been pretty reliable. We have not had any major problems so far. The engine still runs well, the transmission shifts smoothly in all temps and weather conditions. The audio system isnt great, but acceptable. The interior has a decent amount of space for a small car, and the trunk is pretty big. Road noise is average, but I always have music playing. Heat and A/C still work great. It has a very awkward steering wheel position and the handling is not very good. The gas is very touchy.

Over 3 years and Im still giddy - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Zippy - December 19 - 4:13 pmI test drove the Civic and the Corolla, and the Corolla was faster, tighter and got better mileage. I still wanted something quicker and tried the XRS. It was WELL worth the extra money. I LOVE driving this car! That said, the power curve is not at all smooth and Ive adjusted how I drive to compensate. You almost have to plan ahead. I put a graphite gear shifter knob on it which really improved my ability to "feel" the gears and shift with accuracy. The car pushes a little around corners, but I guess thats safer than the alternative. I didnt know it only took premium until after two tanks of regular. I dont like paying more for gas, but its still worth it.

Great Car for the Money - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By David Green - December 18 - 11:30 amI just bought this car as a replacement for an aging Lebaron and cant be happier. It is very quiet and rides very nicely. My only gripe would be that ABS should be standard in this day and age but overall this is a great car for what you pay.

Best car that i have ever owned - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By greg g - October 25 - 1:40 amIn my years I have owned many new cars, Cadillacs, Lincolns, Dodges, Fords, etc. but none of them are equal to the Toyota Corolla S Model. I currently own my third Corolla S. I try to trade or buy a new one each year. The Corolla S is the best kept secret around.

My 3rd Toyota is not a dream - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By nothappymemphian - October 22 - 12:46 amThis is my third Toyota it is a 2006 Corolla and I have had the transmission replaced twice and the computer replaced once. Now my engine light is on again. I am really not happy with this car. I never thought I would get a lemon from Toyota.

My 9 Year Old Wants It When She Turns 16 - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Randy - October 15 - 9:36 amAfter 3 months and 6k miles, my Corolla is exactly as promised. Whether I drive 65 or 85, A/C on or off, the car gets 37-40 mpg. There is plenty of room for 4 adults, and all of their luggage. The ride is pretty good (all highway miles), the handling is very good, and the shifters throw is short, enabling quick shifts, thus enabling the revs to stay high. The car really springs to life above 4000 rpms. Have second thoughts about getting navy blue - it looks great when clean, but the slightest rain will turn it into a mess.

By drg - September 4 - 6:03 amBy far the best engineered compact vehicle. Makes my former Ford Focus a charity case.
