  • Not the best choice for everyone - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

Overall a solid car with a few shortcomings and no personality. Feels designed for the masses not an individual person. The front seat bottoms are too short and flat for taller people. The brakes are weak- dealer told me Im at 50% front and back after 6 months. I never did understand the option packages in order to get disc brakes w/o a $3000+ option package. Car feels and looks big and bulky. Dealership was dirty and sales staff sleazy. I feel like a schmuck for putting up with the dealer and actually buying a car from them. We bought a Toyota because everyone said it was great. It is a good car but not for everyone.

  • bought in 197k miles. still runs great - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

I bought this car from a seller in CL for my daily 200 miles commuting. After driving 4000 miles, it still runs great. Handling is good for a front wheel drive car. In general, Im not an aggressive driver but like to drive at constant speed that gives overall mpg about 37. One full tank load can last for more than 500 miles. Of course I changed all the oils, fluids, filters (transmission and air), shocks and coolant when the first week I got this car. The transmission fluid was leaking but after replaced the crush washer. The problem solved. It does smoke at starting the car as everyone said. Some say its valve seal but others say might be fuel left in cylinder and is normal, etc. But I never observe any oil consuming (I check my oil every other day) and the car passed the inspection. On little thing is that I have to put a small pillow to make the seat very comfortable. However, I dont need that for 2016 Corolla. Overall, its reliable car with great gas millage and great for my daily long distant driving.

Since I have purchased this vehicle in March of 2004, it has been everything and more of what i have come to expect from toyota. So far the camry has performed flawlessly. I am very pleased with the results.

  • Im sold on Camrys - 2005 Toyota Camry

I bought this car with 30k miles in 2006 and have now put another 100k on it. Aside from routine fluid and tire changes, this car has given me absolutely no mechanical difficulties. It got nearly 40 miles per gallon on the freeway when I first got it, but now (2013) its closer to 32. Here are some cons: the keyless entry stopped working on me a year ago; the back speakers shattered on me into little pieces two years ago (this seems to be a common problem -- the sun pretty much destroys them); the molding on the cd player began to become unsealed from the heat of the sun. Overall, this has been a spectacular car. I plan on driving it until its totally dead.

  • Material and Mechanical Parts are so Cheap - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

I own 2005 Toyota Camry (this is my 2nd Camry) and the quality of this one is terrible. The fabric inside has rolled up cotton ball. The fabric of the ceiling inside the car was all falling apart. The plastic inside is all loosen up. Its value is really bad compared to my previous Camry. My sister bought a 2012 Camry and the same thing happened to her. The material is so cheap. Not to mention all the mechanical parts - they dont last like the old Camry. We decided No more Camry and had shared this problem with everyone we know.

  • Great car for the money - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

This is a fun and nice car smooth ride and fast. For the money you cant beat this car and I feel it will go forever and while I drive I feel confident and secure. Compare to BMW and Acura or Benz to this car and the SE wins, it will stand its own against any of these cars. The fuel economy is ok I got 24 mpg with regular not bad for a 3.3 liter engine. I was cruising at 100 mph and it had much more but Im still breaking in. Buy this car.

  • check engine light - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

The check engine light goes on and the dealer and Toyota can not tell me why. The car has 475 miles on it. I also own a 1999 Toyota Camry and that light went on at about 52,000 miles and they fix something and or reset the light and its back on. The car runs find but if something is wrong with the engine I will not know

  • Transmission Problems - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

The 5-speed transmission on the V6 is dangerous. When you pull into from traffic and accelerate there is too long a lag time before the car begins to move and then it takes too long to get up to speed. The transmission kickdown to pass can take 1.5 to 2 secs before it kicks in. Almost had a wreck because of it.

  • Solid Car - 2005 Toyota Camry
    By -

Ill echo what other folk are saying. Bought mine new in 2005 and have had no problems at all, not even a burnt bulb. I think Im at 83,000 miles or so now. I put Goodyear Tripletreads on around 40,000 as I didnt like the factory tires, and the Tripletreads greatly increased braking power, corner, and wet-condition handling. I usually get low 30s gas mileage for mix driving and mid thirties for long highway trips. Just be smart and buy this car if youre looking. Oh, and change the in-cabin air filter at least once a year to help with inside fog.

This vehicle is just AWESOME. I just love the sleek design and I love Toyota because theyre vehicles are the MOST reliable out of all other makes. The only car I would ever buy is a Toyota. The XLE model has many advanced features and the best thing, they arent at all hard to use. Toyota is just awesome. I bought a USED Corolla in 1995 and currently it has around 110 K miles and is still running great. I would recommend Toyota
