  I live my 2004 4-Runner. I specially love the V8 Engine with smooth ride. For a V8 SUV, the Gas Milage is great and I think for the price this is the best SUV you can by today. When you by the 4-Runner, in reality, you just purchased a Lexus and 50% discount

  I put alot of miles on my vehicles & the 4Runner is the best value for the money and for reliability, creature comforts & resale value. It may cost more up front but resale value & low repair / maintenance expenses more than make up for it. (I got a better deal on it than I thought possible (under invoice)).

  I just today purchased my new Toyota 4 Runner SR5. This is the first SUV I have acquired. So far, it is awesome. It is fun to drive, very quiet on the road and it handles excellent!! I also like the fact that the SR5 comes pretty well equipped.

  This SUV is the best buy for the money. The V8 is supurb. I avg. about 20 mpg. It handles great on the road and its quiet. Fit and finish on the vehicle is top notch. I was considering a Nissan Murano before I took a look at the 4Runner. Im glad I did!. I was also looking at the Honda Pilot, but the dealers werent budging from MSRP, plus the lack of styles and colors at the lots. The 4Runner is a great SUV, I recommend it!

  I bought 2004 4Runner SR5 V6. Power is enough, space is enough, basic 6 speakers are good enough in bass to treble, noise level is quiet enough (67dB@70mph), the rear door closes electrically. Only thing I dislike is my (drivers) seat back, that does not fit to my back completely. And like many Japanese cars, it locks doors when you shift gear P to D and does not release automatically when you arrive and park.(you should manually open locks for rear passengers to get out) However, its safety rating at NHTSA and IIHS outperforms "ALL" other SUVs, and overall, I am 99% satisfied with my new 2004 4Runner SR5 V6.

  I have had my 4Runner for 4 years now. I live in Long Island and my wife used to live in Utica. I was thus driving about 1000 miles a week. Ride is outstanding for a 4x4. On the wet highways or in the snow, the traction control is unsurpassed. I invested in synthetic oil and change my filters regularly. The 3rd row seat is mostly used by my 2 toddlers. This is the BEST 4Runner Toyota has built so far. I am just waiting for an excuse to buy the upcoming redesigned 4Runner.

  Pretty Good SUV - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

  The 2004 4runner was our first Toyota. Almost 5 years now and it has about 55K on it with no major breakdowns. In extremely low temps the heater motor will not work, which seems to be a common failure I have read in other reviews. Also, the AC has a relay that seems to be a weak part that they have upgraded on the newer models. When the relay pukes out, the AC light blinks and will not get cold. Cost about $75 for the part, but I have read some horror stories with getting it repaired or diagnosed properly. Overall, this SUV has been superior to the US made SUVs I have had in prior years. Like all used vehicles, Toyota trade-in value is disappointing. Makes me keep what I have longer.

  Excellent SUV - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

  After debating between the Acura MDX and the Toyota 4Runner, we chose the 4Runner (mostly becuase of cost). Our previous SUV was a 1997 Ford Explorer. So, all of my comparisons are between the 4Runner and the Explorer. The 4Runner is much quieter and has a smoother ride. For a truck based SUV, Toyota did a good job. The 4Runner has much less body roll than the Explorer especially over speed bumps in parking lots. Acceleration is much better than the Explorer although Toyota should improve the 4Runner to have a 5 speed automatic next time. Finally, the Explorer does have more room in back, but hey, cant get everything.

  I am very satisfied with my purchase. The ride is great. Handling is great with plenty of power. Very well thought out. My second 4R. This is a great car. Xreas, downhill assist, moon roof, hood scoop, 6 window sprays, low wiper fluid, reminder to change oil, Tran. fluid, low oil, tire pressure, special air bag, seat belt pre tensions, oil filter on top of motor, great visibility, anti skid, no difficulty steering in tight spots
