This Year's Model Updates:

The XL-7 receives minor updates to the exterior and equipment list. The Touring and Limited models have been renamed EX III and LX III. The front grille and bumper have been reworked, and the foglights, taillights and headlights all have a new look. The front-passenger airbags are now multistage, and there's a new panic button on the keyless remote. Lastly, the V6 engine gets two additional horsepower for a total of 185, and the automatic transmission is now a five-speed unit.

Pros:
  • Affordable base price, competent on- and off-road handling, available seven-passenger seating.
Cons:
  • Cramped second- and third-row seating, dated cabin design, low-grade interior plastics, side airbags not available.

  • Out of 19 SUVs this is the one. - 2004 Suzuki XL-7

After reviewing and test driving 19 Midsize SUVs and owning Luxury SUVs for the last 5 years we can the conclusion the Suzuki is by far the best value in the market. Dimensions similar if not larger than Jeeps Grand Cherokee. Fuel economy at 22mpg hwy (24 observed). Luxury features in the EX with a True 4wd system on a truck frame with a car like ride all for $25k LOADED make this one choice you must look into. Pound for pound or dollar for dollar you will not find another vehicle that comes close. Rear leg room is actually better than specifications show, nearly 40" with a 510" driver.

I traded a 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara for a 2004 XL-7 Limited 2WD in Dec. 2003. The 99 was trouble free and very reliable and I have no reason to beleive that the 2004 will be any different. The ride is very quiet with no road noise, a killer stereo system, comfortable leather seats, a beautiful dash with wood grained accents and the feel is like Im driving something much more expensive. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a mid size suv to look at and test drive the Suzuki. I think that they will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of vehicle for the money.

We have owned our Suzuki XL-7 for 1 1/2 years. The reason I bought it was the warranty, the design, and the trade in deal they gave me. It feels very solid and handles well, I am 6 feet tall and there is a lot of headroom. I think the XL-7 could be a bit longer, but it is adeqaute with smaller kids. We have the 3rd row seat which is very tight. If the SUV was a foot longer the 3rd row would be a bit more pratical. We bought out XL-7 with 6,000 miles on it for $20000, $15,000 with our trade. The dealer gave me $5,000 for a 1994 Ford Explorer Limited with 99,000 miles on it. My wife likes the size of the XL-7 and finds it easy to navigate. She feels safe driving in snow with the 4WD.

  • Suzukis are bulletproof - 2004 Suzuki XL-7

This is my fifth Suzuki. They are bulletproof. Very high reliability, conservative engineering, excellent fuel economy. The XL-7 is geared a bit low, so I fitted the biggest Michelin tires that would fit in the wheel wells, making the gearing "taller" by about 5%. The car still clims the 6% grade between 6000 and 7000 feet on the east side of Donner Pass in 5th gear.

I test drove almost every SUV made including the Navigator, Escalade, and Lexus. The XL-7 doesnt have the luxury of these SUVs but for the money, it surpassed all the others that we tried. It handles well and rides fairly comfortably, although the gas mileage could be better. Blind spots where the backseat headrests and the spare tire cover are can cause problems at times. All in all Ive no problems with performance AND Ive gotten quite a few compliments on the body style also. This would be a great business vehicle!

For the price this is a lot of truck. The interior has tons of room, it is a 4 x 4 with a V6 and it is attractive to look at it.

I already own a Large SUV, but needed a more compact alternative for work. I love this car, the price was right, it has the room for work materials (Im in Sales)and my golf clubs, it gets better mileage, its sporty, has great interior features and looks like a Mini Toyota Landcruiser. This is a cool SUV.
