This Year's Model Updates:

As the Aerio is a recent introduction to the market, there aren't that many changes for 2003. Suzuki has bumped the horsepower up by four to 145 and nudged the torque up one pound-foot to 135. Other additions include integrated cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, a three-point seatbelt and headrest for rear center seat and a new cloth design. The GS and SX models drop the rear-seat armrest, get a six-disc in-dash CD player and have the optional all-wheel-drive available.

Pros:
  • Wagon-body style, available all-wheel drive, affordable price, large interior, powerful standard engine.
Cons:
  • Strange interior design, missing some key features.

Read Edmunds Compact Wagon Comparison test. Dont most of us establish a budget as the first rule of auto buying? Wouldnt you pick a Ford Escape, bigger & better over a Matrix, as they are similar in price? For 2003 the Aerio has a bit more HP & Torque. It did pretty well in the comparison, but the 2003 would likely finish #1. Note the 2003 now has the 6CD changer/radio standard. Who likes the fake metal interior trim of a Matrix??

bought my yellow aerio sx, ABS and auto but no AWD. Dealer was very helpful and not sleazy. got the car for 13550 inc. destination fee. roomy, unique, fast, quiet, fast, versatile, fast, fun to drive, fast. originaly intended to replace my 88 tercel, my wife now borrows it everytime she can. no neighbors with torches threatening to burn my "ugly" car like car &driver warned me. bahhumbug!!! everyone that looks at the car loves it!!

  • Little Car, Many Annoyances - 2003 Suzuki Aerio
    By -

The car is fun to drive especially around the city. Being small it isnt comfortable on long trips. The interior storage is well thought out. It has never stranded me fortunately, but I dont trust the car much. Its annoying and costly to own. It goes through tires every 20,000 miles max, even with alignments and rotation; the rear alignment lacks a key adjustment; brake rotators warp easily and brakes need replacing often; fuel economy of a big V8, and the AC belt tensioner is hard to replace and doesnt last long before it gets really noisy. The interior clock light goes off when the headlights are turned on and there other annoyances. The black velor door panels are hard to keep clean.

See for yourself as I did: Suzuki Aerio has best automotive safety crash test[visit website from new carlink]in its class & against almost all other makes/models(compare overall number of g ratings to lexus, bmw...)and anyone who cares about driving safety will also appreciate comfort & handling. Aerio SX standard features are loaded: ABS,dual airbags, tilt steering, large easy view windows+rear wiper,6CD,power accessories for almost everything, child rear seat restraint,& extra travel cups!

This car makes my hour-long commute strangely enjoyable. Great for both city and highway driving. It is a smooth ride with great pickup with 145 horse power. Both looks and performance make this a very fun and practical car. Well worth the money.

  • Great Car, Bad Yokohama Tires - 2003 Suzuki Aerio
    By -

This is a great car to drive but the tires by Yokohama are terrible! Factory default on tires with only 600 miles and Yokohama would not stand behind them, even though their factory authorized dealer stated the tire was defective with tread separation! I had to purchase and pay for new tire with no payment from Yokohama and no help from Suzuki!

  • What a fun little car!! - 2003 Suzuki Aerio
    By -

I purchased my Aerio with 67k miles on it and man what a great little car! Great price point and good gas mileage. It is fun to drive and as a bigger guy I found myself strangly comfortable in this car and not pressed up against the window like some other cars. Overall a great and dependable car. Only thing I did was get 15" rims and tires, which helped with road noise and turning performance.
