This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru is building on last year's successful redesign of the Legacy by making a few additional improvements for 2006. For instance, Legacys with normally aspirated engines feature a new variable valve lift system that slightly improves horsepower and torque, while a new DVD-based navigation system has been made available on selected trim levels. The trim levels themselves have also changed slightly. The budget-performance 2.5 GT trim has been discontinued, leaving buyers to ante up for the pricier GT Limited. There's a new Spec B version of the GT Limited sedan with a firmer suspension and 18-inch wheels. Also note that GT wagons are no longer available with a manual gearbox. Base Legacy 2.5i sedans and wagons have bigger wheels, stronger brakes, an air filtration system and an engine immobilizer as standard equipment this year.

  • How could you not love it? - 2006 Subaru Legacy

This is by far the best car I have owned. Had it 6 months and have 11K miles on it. Great look, feel, style. Get 31 MPG at 80 MPH on highway. Average about 28 MPG combined highway/city. About 450 miles off one tank. Excellent and fun to drive in good weather and snow. Great features, easy to drive, easy to use controls. a lot of power for a small car, zips in and out of traffic. Why buy the turbo and pay more and spend more on gas when this is almost the same. Good pick up and excellent braking. I would suggest this car to anyone looking for a car priced under $25K, that wants reliability, and a great car.

Ultimate sedan sleeper! People underestimate this cars performance and its wonderful to destroy that expectation. Smooth engine, transmission, and handling. Power is phenomenal for a 2.5L. Think STi but much more refined. This car rides very smooth and one would think that the suspension is too soft until you throw it in a corner. This car will amaze you how nimble and aggressive it can be when pushed. The interior cabin is very quiet and you never hear the engine strain. Fit and finish is top notch. For the price you will not find a more refined and powerful car on the market. Ive only owned Hondas and Im proud to say this car exceeded my expectations of Subaru; sorry Honda will miss you!

  • Fun to Drive AWD commuter Sedan - 2006 Subaru Legacy

This car is fun to drive. The very smooth boxer engine, is quite and powerful for a 4 cylinder 3,300 lb car. It handles excellent with the 205-50-17 tires. The car handles beautifully in the snow, pulls nice and straight.

This is one exclusive car, the Legacy GT 2.5 spec-B! The color combo just drew me in. I love the restyle of the Legacy for 2005 and Im glad they didnt change it. Subaru should have put in the 6 speed gear box of the STi and upped the horsepower of the spec-B higher than the standard Legacy GTs. Handling is just unreal. Corners on rails, even in the wet! The perfect combination of ride comfort and firmness.

Very good car... (could be great with a few minor upgrades!). I have had some fun cars in the past (BMW etc.) but for the price the Legacy GT is a windfall. Surefooted, powerful yet an awesome daily driver, than can provide serious fun with a minor adjustment of your right foot.

  • I LOVE this car - 2006 Subaru Legacy

After researching and test-driving many of the cars in the LGTs class, including the Lexus IS350, I found that the Subaru LGT is hands-down the best deal out there. It handles better than the Lexus and Volvo S60R, is faster than both the BMW 3-series and the Audi A4, and costs thousands of dollars less than all of them. This car is a pleasure to drive. My only complaint is that the seats do not have a memory function, but thats small potatoes compared to everything you get for the price. I highly recommend you take one for a test drive.

  • Comfortable, Economical and Reliable - 2006 Subaru Legacy

This is my third Subaru Legacy Wagon. I opted for all the features except the turbo and couldnt be happier with my choice. 87 Octane gas yielded 30mpg hwy over 380 miles on my last road trip. Acceleration is more than adequate and the manual shift feature allows for passing when needed. The seats provide a comfortable driving position for extended periods. The cabin is spacious -- made more so by light from the giant sunroof -- and also very quiet at highway speeds. the steering is well weighted -- the car feels nimble and lighter than it is. Overall this car provides comfortable and economical transportation with a host of features and quality thats unmatched for the money.

  • People are missing out on a great car! - 2006 Subaru Legacy

After 3 weeks with this car, it seems to grow on me with every day. There should be many more of these on the road - youre missing out, people. The ride is firm, yet comfortable with confident feel. The features are plentiful for the price - especially considering all-wheel-drive and top safety ratings with rear side-air bags all included. This non-turbo version does seem to lack power at times; so I compensate by using the manual auto-stick feature and shift at high rpms when quicker acceleration is needed. But the great highway gas mileage is a fair trade-off for the mediocre power. With the cruise set at 70mph, the trip computer averaged 34mpg, and around 32mpg at 80mph. I highly recommend.
