Overview & Reviews
For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
- Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

Performance for the rest of us - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Michael - October 7 - 11:30 amThe STi is by far the most performance value for your dollar. At roughly $100/horsepower, you will be challenged to find something else that competes (with the exception of the Mitsubishi EVO). This car is by far the most fun to drive of any turbocharged car Ive owned. Running out of corners in 2nd gear with the All Wheel Drive will put a huge grin on your face every single time you do it. There are other performance cars out there such as the Nissan 350Z that are close. But the STi offers a standard cart-your-friends around 4-door (I carry both my kids car seats in mine) that you dont get with most sports cars. Bottom line is this car is a blast to drive, and is affordable.

Bang for your buck - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By ferris - September 9 - 10:00 amThis car can embarass muscle cars especially in the corners where it counts. Superb engine, no real turbo lag unlike my previous WRX.This is thanks to the bigger displacement and valve timing. All wheel drive is great although I have reservations as to how necessary the DCCD is. Also the suretrack front diff seems to enhance understeer not reduce it and makes a grinding noise when it is working as it is mechanincal as opposed to viscous.

WRX good - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By NgoPhat - August 22 - 2:00 amI bought an 04 WRX soon after they came onto the market. I must say it is an excellent car. And if you know how to drive, the auto version is just as fast as the manual version.

Should have got something else - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By nbabiarz - August 6 - 10:00 amHave 6k miles on the car, and am ready to get rid of it. The steering is terrible (wobbly, feels like Im in a boat being pushed back and forth across traffic) and my *new* car had rust on the door, plus several other defects. Ive been back to Subaru of Gwinnett 3 times to fix it, and they cant/wont. Ive been told "thats how all AWD vehicles drive" (I thought AWD was supposed to feel *more* stable than FWD?) and that I need to put air in the tires every week... Im very disappointed with the car, and with the lack of support from Subaru. I will not be being any more Subaru cars in the future.

Stealth Wagon!!! Glad I waited for 04. - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By SeaBiscuit - July 29 - 10:00 amGlad I waited for the 04s - redesign is stunning with mucho BIGGER scoop, sexier front end and rear tailights, interior ceiling is upgraded (was cheepy in the 03), headrest/seat is combined (cool), seats are more bolstered with improved fabric, Tach in CENTER with silver edgings around gauges, paid $1,100 for aftermarket sunroof (love it). Car handles beyond my expectations. Look forward to my commute now and constantly look for other WRXers.

WRX STi - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By mduplin - July 11 - 2:00 amCan not beat the performance of the vehicle for the price. The fact that it is all wheel drive makes it great in the snow as well, as long as you swap out the street tires for snowies.
