This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru completely redesigns the Impreza and brings a high-performance turbocharged WRX variant into the fold to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to drive a powerful, all-wheel-drive sport sedan without breaking the bank. All Imprezas benefit from improvements in performance, refinement and safety. Along with the Impreza's trip upmarket come revised trim levels consisting of two sedans (WRX and 2.5 RS) and three wagons (WRX, Outback Sport and 2.5 TS Sport Wagon). The coupe body style has been dropped.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel drive, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • No more coupe, extroverted styling may be too much for some.

I love this little wagon. I bought it new and it has been so much fun to drive. Im tall and it has a lot of headroom. Its fast and comfortable and a blast to drive. Its been extremely reliable until recently when at 92,000 miles Ive had to replace the transmission and the air conditioner compressor. It has Recaro seats which are very comfortable and it has some engine adjustments by Cobb Tuning which drop the 0-60 time into the 4s. It will run with a Porsche at a third of the price. My son has a 2005 and he is 65" and he fits in it comfortably. I like my WRX much better than my wifes 2009 Lexus IS 350 which I have to fold myself up like a pretzel to get into.

  • Best Car for the Money - Hands down - 2002 Subaru Impreza

This car is an absolute blast to drive. I have owned mine for about seven months and I still have a smile everytime I step on the gas. I did a lot of research before I chose this car, and you cant beat the quality, features and performance of this car for the price. I was comparing this car to cars costing $5k - $10k more - still no contest. Drive one and see what I mean.

  • Best new car Ive ever owned - 2002 Subaru Impreza

After 10 months and 16K miles, Ive decided that this is the best car Ive ever purchased. So far there have been zero repairs necessary which Ive NEVER experienced with a new car. Its not a race car, but performance is great, handling is very competent and the ride quality is just right, firm but not harsh at all. It is noticably slower in very hot weather. Interior quality seems better than average for a small car, but nothing spectacular. It is also very quiet inside for a small car. Seats and steering wheel are excellent, ergonomics are good.

I love this car. Fast, handles well. Stupid SUV drivers think they can beat me off the line and I love leaving them in the dust. Theres plenty of storage (holds more than my girlfriends Landrover) and the back seats are acceptable too. Dont get that Mini-SUV, get a WRX...

I bought my wrx in July of 2004 while I was attending community college in Pennsylvania. I chose the wrx because of the power and the awd. I chose the wagon because it cut my insurance in half (I was a 19 year old male buying a turbo charged car). I have driven the car as a daily driver ever since. I later attended Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana which lead to some 500 mile trips back and forth to Pennsylvaina. I now have close to 140,000 miles on the car. Aside from tires and brakes, I have replaced the clutch at 900$ including labor and almost all of the ac components at 1400$ including labor. 7 years and 140,000 miles with ony 2300$ in repairs is pretty good in my book.

  • Not bad for the money - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Very nice sport sedan for the money...best in practicality and performance...for the money. With 40,000 miles on the car now...only had problems with driver side power widow (fixed) under warranty. Car still feels new and solid. Paid list for the car...no regrets... I still love driving it and feel good after driving it.

  • The best compact sport sedan ever? - 2002 Subaru Impreza

The only problem I have had with this car was the check engine light came on once. Upon contacting the dealer, they were aware of the problem and remedied it overnight and provided a loaner car. I have done the rear brakes at 66,000 miles and have done regular service and oil changes. The car is fun to drive and has power to spare. The stock tires are sufficient in the snow but I feel a snow tire would perform better. I love this car.
