This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Subaru Forester gets mild equipment changes. Last year's Premium package is now considered a trim level and additionally includes a standard power driver seat. The L.L. Bean Edition trim level is no more, though it was actually discontinued midway through last year. The optional navigation system now includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Pros:
  • Standard all-wheel drive, roomy cabin with ample cargo space, comfortable ride, capable engines, excellent safety scores.
Cons:
  • Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, so-so fit and finish.

  • Interior design needs improvement - 2010 Subaru Forester

Drivers Seat Too Low! Test drove a manual front seat car but bought a power adjust seat. The seat does NOT go up high enough to see over the hood. In my area you need to look down at the pavement to spot potholes. I sit on a cushion to improve my view. Speedometer Stupid! The speedometer goes up to 150 mph. What are these designers idiots. The distance between 60 and 80 mph is one and a half inches. Which is the difference between getting a speeding ticket or not. Bad Spot For Tripometer. To set the tripometer you have to reach inside the steering wheel to press the reset button. When following Mapquest directions (ex. go 1.5 miles) this gets to be a problem.

This is the Third Subaru We have purchased. I use a 2006 Forester for commuting. We have had the 2010 for about three weeks now and have put on some 1000 miles. We have come up with the following improvements with the new Forester; Much smoother ride, much quieter cabin, very comfortable seats, More leg room, rear seats are much more comfortable with more leg room especially with the reclining feature. when exiting the vehicle, you dont have to climb up out of it like the older versions. We found we didnt like lack of snappy response the older models had, no temp gauge, and less interior storage. That said, we have found the Forester to be a much better vehicle than the last version.

Excellent visibility; comfortable drivers seats, panoramic sunroof is the best. Fuel economy could be improved; easy accessibility; radio is terrible; tinted windows could have been darker; fun to drive.

  • Pleased with purchase - 2010 Subaru Forester

My trade was a 2006 Highlander ,a near perfect SUV but the 2010 model is now larger than needed. The Forester is a great fit. All else being fairly equal I chose the Forester over the RAV4 and CRV because of the practical styling. An easy to use rear hatch and better visibility. So far the more I drive it the more I am convinced that I made the right choice. My suggestion for anyone looking for a compact SUV is to take your time and test drive them all.

  • 2.5x Forester Premium - 2010 Subaru Forester

My first Subaru after 2 years of deciding on the do it all vehicle. The perfect vehicle for the commuting outdoorsman. Sport/Utility defines the Forester very well (why dont they officially classify it as such?). The Forester is a rolling swiss army knife (pardon the metaphor). It can do so much so well, and do it safely. Reliable, spirited, great handling, ultra safe, very roomy, best AWD on the market, just as good off as on road. Equipped excellently on the base model, step up a notch and add the all weather package (recommended). Huge sunroof/moonroof, practically makes it feel like a convertible.

  • Love it - 2010 Subaru Forester

I gave up an eclipse spyder gts for this SUV I thought I am downgrading but to my amazement this is just as fun as a convertible, drives really good, love the sunroof actually better than a convertible because I could still enjoy the sun without messing up my hair. The interior is a lot better compared to CR-V, rogue, and rav4. I am a very satisfied owner. I still have to wait for winter to see well it does but from what I heard it works really good. Love it! And I will recommend it to my friends. Thanks to the wonderful staff at ganley wickliffe Ohio. I did not feel pressured and was very accommodating. More power to you guys. God bless.

  • Awesome ride - 2010 Subaru Forester

I am quite new to the Subaru experience although family members have owned them. I love the body style of the Forester and the smooth ride it gives me. Instrument panel is simple and easy to access. All-wheel-drive was a must for me and Subaru has perfected that engineering.I love it and now understand why Subaru advertising includes "Love" in their commercials! It says it all!

ive been driving my forester for 6 months now. Drives great-love the handling-it really grips the road. Good gas mileage-avg. 27 mpg. Back seat is great for kids-very roomy, they love the reclining seats and center console with cup holders. I do wish their was more room in front center console for purse- I removed partition, but it eliminates one cup holder when doing so. Drivers seat is comfy but wish it had memory for when my husband and I switch. Passenger seat should have 10 way power as well because it is very low and at only 5 2" I have a hard time seeing. Overall I have been extremely satisfied with my purchase and cant wait to try my AWD this winter.

  • So far so good - 2010 Subaru Forester

My wife and I are "heavyweights" so we appreciate extra leg and hip room. The Forester has plenty for us. I like the peppy power train and tight turning radius. Its like driving a go-kart. More power than I expected from a 4 cylinder 170 HP engine. I think the fuel economy is great, Weve gotten 33 mpg on the highway and up to 24 mpg in the city. That far exceeds the 22 mpg EPA estimate on the sticker. I believe that a 6-speed auto transmission would help increase the gas mileage even more. We have the "Limited" edition which has the upgraded interior, but the interior seems a bit cheap and thin plastic is abundant.

  • Attention auto industry : follow Subaru! - 2010 Subaru Forester

I drive a lot and when Im in my car, I want everything to be perfect. My last car was a Lexus GS350 and I couldnt stand the rattles. Ive heard some complain about rattling, however Ive found that if you just tuck everything away in the back such as the center seat belt, rear cover, etc., there arent any rattles at all. I love my Forester and Im a Suby fan for life. Funny thing is, I used to despise Subaru. Now I think it would take a lot for another manufacturer other than a high line manufacturer to wow me like Subaru
