The 2010 Subaru Forester gets mild equipment changes. Last year's Premium package is now considered a trim level and additionally includes a standard power driver seat. The L.L. Bean Edition trim level is no more, though it was actually discontinued midway through last year. The optional navigation system now includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Pros:
  • Standard all-wheel drive, roomy cabin with ample cargo space, comfortable ride, capable engines, excellent safety scores.
Cons:
  • Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, so-so fit and finish.

  • What a mistake! - 2010 Subaru Forester

Ill make it simple. RATTLES,RATTLES,RATTLES. Doesnt really matter if it drives well or not. You are so distracted by all the rattles you really dont care. Rattles started in the rear of the vehicle. The dealership tried to convince me it was the license plate. Now beside the rattles in the rear of the vehicle, the front driver side and passenger side windows rattle/hum. Only person I would recommend this vehicle to is my friend who is totally deaf!

Always wanted a AWD car. I was impressed with the Forester and I went for it. Im really happy with the choice.

Greatly enjoy this vehicle. The ride is fun - responsive, sure-footed, firm yet comfortable. Enough acceleration - good gas mileage. Very practical for both day to day activities and the 4 trips Ive already taken in it.

  • Who really needs 4WD? Honestly. - 2010 Subaru Forester

Had a 4WD Jeep, never really had to use it and at 16 mpg, killed me at the pumps. Subaru AWD always ready, always working. The interior room of the Forester reminds me of a Checker Cab in NYC. Back seat leg room is massive. The interior finish is 10X better than most USA cars (cheap). Working with our salesman was a pleasure-worked with us-no high pressure. Plenty of power, great pickup speed on highway and uphill. Good visibility. Stylish- looks good taking the kids to practice and taking the wife out to dinner or a show.

  • Great Small SUV but Far From Perfect - 2010 Subaru Forester

This is my second Forester in the last 2 years. I traded in my first one after a year and a half because the X model (4 cylinder) did not have enough power for me. I upgraded to an XT turbo which is more my speed. If you are looking for any performance this is the way to go. I stayed with Subaru because they gave me a great trade in price. The XT in black suits my lifestyle, sporty & practical. The forester is great for active individuals & small families. It is an easy commuter, great visibility, easy to drive & park but it does need some improvements. The engine & transmission seem well built but the interior plastics are cheap, not the perceived Subaru ruggedness I was looking for.

  • Only had it for two weeks - 2010 Subaru Forester

I bought the non-turbo limited; engine is satisfactory, my second Subaru, wanted the all wheel drive and legendary control on iffy roads. I needed all the extra legroom, the Subaru has 43.1, compared to 42.3 for CRV and 41.7 for Rav4. HOWEVER, the non-turbo model does not come with a telescoping steering wheel! This is crazy, because you cannot take full advantage of all the front legroom without a telescoping wheel, since if you do you wont be able to reach the wheel! I suppose its ok if youre an orangutan but normal humans, no way. Inexplicable, really, since the Turbo models come with it. Arm rest too far back, too low, and too hard. Mediocre sound system, even with 6CD changer.

  • The Best Choice for Us - 2010 Subaru Forester

We purchased two 2010 Forester XT Ltd. w/Nav. My wife and I each have roughly 2000 miles on our Foresters. Its only been a little over three months, but we are very pleased with our Foresters. Our first test drive was in an X Premium model which we would have bought, but then we drove the XT. The trade-off of slightly lower gas mileage is easily forgotten when you step on the throttle. Visibility is excellent, and the ride is comfortable and quiet. The Forester has very good road manners, although, a stiffer rear sway bar is in order to reduce some of the body roll. Pot holes and road imperfections are no problem as the suspension soaks them up easily. Great car. Excellent value!

First Subaru, made an excellent decision. Fuel economy avg 24 mpg combined. Moon roof great, sound system is very good, road noise better than all the others I test drove, handling is nimble at high speeds, braking excellent. All in all I am very happy with my Forester.

  • Very Nice - 2010 Subaru Forester

Drove the CR-V, Santa Fe, Equinox, Rav 4 and Forester. Subaru did a great job getting enough head room for tall people. Very nice cabin room and little to no blind spots like many of the others. Just a nice, solid vehicle. We got 27 mpg on the way home which took us through the city and highway. We are still smiling a week later. Probably will replace the tires with something a little higher rated down the road.

  • Smooth but rattles - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

The Forester 2.5X base model is a good value and is a decent and quiet AWD wagon on the road. I upgraded the base model with leather and installed my own hood protector, mud guards, and bumper guard. Im still breaking in the engine at < 800 miles so mileage is all over, between 22 and 28 mpg. I owned a 2001 Forester S (loved that Subie) and changed to my 2.5X. The jury is still out as I need more time behind the wheel. The annoying and loud rattles in the rear of the vehicle is putting a damper on what should be an enjoyable driving experience with this Subaru. Some loading on the floor seem to quiet the rattles a little. Ill have the dealer try to fix the rattles next week.
