This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Subaru Forester gets mild equipment changes. Last year's Premium package is now considered a trim level and additionally includes a standard power driver seat. The L.L. Bean Edition trim level is no more, though it was actually discontinued midway through last year. The optional navigation system now includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Pros:
  • Standard all-wheel drive, roomy cabin with ample cargo space, comfortable ride, capable engines, excellent safety scores.
Cons:
  • Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, so-so fit and finish.

  • Very pleased first time buyer! - 2010 Subaru Forester

I traded in my 05 Corolla on 12/29/09 to get the 10 Forester as we had moved to Madison WI and I could no longer stand getting stuck in the snow with the Corolla and needing to be pushed out. I chose the Forester over the RAV4 (even before the recall issues) and the CR-V because of Subarus outstanding safety ratings and superior AWD system. It has been absolutely terrific in the snow and foul weather which is the main reason why I bought it. I am a bit disappointed in the gas mileage which has been ranging from 16-18 for city driving. We got 21 when we drove on the hwy. I am hopeful the mileage will improve when the weather gets warmer. The poor quality stereo is my biggest pet peeve!

  • Love My Subaru! - 2010 Subaru Forester

After test driving the CR-V, Saturn Vue, VW, Rav-4... the Subaru stands alone. Its quiet. A smooth ride and spacious interior. Its interior has a more harmonious feel than the rest. I have all the high end features without paying a high end price.

  • RattleTrap II in Eugene, OR - 2010 Subaru Forester

After all of the excitement we are very disappointed with this vehicle. Rattle/buzz from day 3. Moonroof rattle, both front doors buzz, cargo door rattle. Then to top it off, not just a drift but a continental shift to the right when one releases the steering wheel. We took video to document, Left lane of freeway to right lane without really wanting to change lanes. To say the least we are frustrated with this car. I drive for a living so I know all about rattles and buzzes, never suspected a brand new car . My 1988 BMW with 297K drives better and no rattles. The car has been in the shop 3 times since we got it 12/26/2009. Thank god it is a lease!

  • Dont get the 170hp model - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

Sure, the cars fun to drive and looks good. With the 170 hp engine, I have to constantly redline the engine to merge with traffic. When it finally gets up to speed, its very responsive. Opening and closing the doors and you realize how cheaply made the body is. Like a coffee can on wheels. Driver seat must have been made for short legged people. Cheap radio has SAT button but you need to buy the extra satellite option. MPG drops because of the weak 4 cylinder 170 hp engine. My Dodge Caravan with a 6 cylinder had much better acceleration but had almost as good gas mileage because the engine didnt have to strain as much. Only good thing is that its a company car that Ill have2 years

  • My first Subie - 2010 Subaru Forester

I like the subaru forester-had over a year now only getting 24.3mpg highway. I dont like the cup holders or where the seat warmers are placed. Overall, the car is awesome in the winter-drove through 26+ inches of snow up the a 7% grade with no issues. I should have got the outback just because it looks like its a beast!

  • Like it but I Do Not Love It - 2010 Subaru Forester

First off I should have bought the turbo. At the time I was concerned about gas and reliability. The turbo takes premium fuel and is usually less reliable. Dont under estimate the importance of FUN. The basic four cylinder does not have enough power to have fun, the acceleration is weak.I also like the aggressive looks of the turbo, the X is bland. If your looking for a basic commuter/hauler the forester is a good car but if you want some performance and luxury get the turbo or look elsewhere. I bought the forester because I needed some cargo space. They gave me a good price for my trade in. My last car was a Audi A4 so its been a hard adjustment, I feel the down grade.

  • Best value for money - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

I purchased my forester in April 2010 and I have no regrets. Its the best value for money. My car is loaded with Blue tooth, navigation, heated seats, satellite radio, remote start, auto dimming mirrors, fog lights, moon roof, leather seats, dvd player, cd player, ipod connections and its all wheel drive. Brand new it cost me less than 30,000. I live in new hampshire so I need a car that is great in the snow, rain, mud or dry road. So far the subie is perfect. I strongly recommend fully loading this vehicle if you plan to get it. You wont be able to enjoy all of these comforts in any other high quality new SUV for the price of a Subaru. I road trip in comfort and style. no problem

  • Second Subie - 2010 Subaru Forester

I had a 2005 Forester and the head gasket blew last year at 167,000. Bought a cheap Jeep before X- mas and decided on another Forester this year. Rides like a go-cart and and gets great gas mileage. The awd is a necessity up North. The ability to press a button and lock em in is a great improvement. This rig is easy to park and will go most anywhere in any weather. Missed my old one...glad I got this one.

Got this after owning a 98 model for many good years. Mileage had been good, we break 30 on trips. Like the perforated and heated leather seats, too. Good size for a family of 4 - small outside, big inside. Ours hasnt seen the dealership since we bought it, our salesman says we see him every 7 years, when its time to buy a new one. Id like to see them add Direct Injection and maybe the CVT from the Outback. All in all were happy and would buy the same car again.

  • What A Gem! - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

Recently purchased 08/24/2009 but already super impressed. Im a tank, and my wife is a little bitty woman but our Forrester fits us both with all the comfort we could ask for. I have gone over this vehicle with a fine tooth comb and could not find a single defect, try that with any of the big three American brands. I intend on driving this car for many years, since my trade was a 92 Explorer. Almost a years research went into my purchase decision, I could not beat the safety options, comfort options, and other features for the price. Other comparable vehicles would have cost much more. I have never been as impressed with a vehicle as I have with this one. I know I have made the best choice!
