This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, the Scion xA gets a mild styling refresh that includes updated designs for the lower air intake, headlamps, taillamps, wheel covers and front grille. Inside, there is new seat fabric and the speedometer background is now white instead of last year's silver. The xA also receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xA offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. Finally, the xA's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Cons:
  • The cool stuff costs extra, modest passing power with automatic transmission, no cruise control.

  • Great Car for the Money - 2006 Scion xA

The 2006 Scion xA is the ultimate car for small families. Its got plenty of room and is versatile for its size. The ultimate experience is being able to get in and out of parking lots with little difficulty, which means a lot for this former truck owner. It is a very solid and well built little car

  • Scion xA - The 4 door hatch to buy - 2006 Scion xA
    By -

This car is an excellent value with style and comfort. We chose it over the Honda Fit and other 4 door hatch models. There has been too much criticism about the lack of power and ride comfort. While a few more HP would be welcome, this cars performance is well beyond adequate with a ride we believe to be comfortable. If considering one, take it for a ride rater than relying on what we believe was a lazy review by Consumer Reports. CR seemed to mail in a review of a 2004 model.

  • Love my Scion! - 2006 Scion xA

This car has been so much fun. It handles well, gets great gas mileage, and sits higher than a sedan, so you can see better when you drive. I love my Scion.

  • Wow! - 2006 Scion xA

I just traded in my Toyota Tacoma for the Scion XA, and what a great little car this is. Its a hoot to drive, and it gets better mileage than the Tacoma ever did. The mpg that Im averaging, though, is a little less than I had hoped for, but my XA has automatic transmission.

  • Unbelievable Car - 2006 Scion xA

My last 3 cars have been 2 BMW Z3s and a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. I sold the last car and and bought this car. My wife and I LOVE it. Its fun, practical, dependable and I dont feel ripped off. I was skeptical at first but I cant get over how much I nejoy this car. Granted its no 2 seater roadster but with gas prices the way they are its smarter to drive one of these.

  • Would Buy It Again - 2006 Scion xA

I have never regretted buying my 2004 xA and look forward to trading for a new one. I moved down from an SUV to a sub-compact and I drove them all. The xA was the only one that surpassed my expectations for its ride and drive. I never care what gas costs. It has had no problems and its finally ready for new tires at just over 41,000 miles. I dont miss my SUV as the xA has plenty of cargo space. It is a great value for the money.

  • Ive been meaning to write something for awhile. - 2006 Scion xA

When I was shopping far my first car in 2008, I had relied a lot on edmunds.com reviews. I was fortunate enough to see a scion xA for sale near me and immediately looked into it. Ive been meaning to put my 2 cents on here about this car: I LOVE IT. If you are on the fence about going with a scion xA, hop the fence, and go get that car. Its extremely efficient, fits everywhere, fun to drive, impressively roomy for such a small design, and just a really great vehicle. Im so glad I went with it, great first car, looking forward to keeping it that way for many years to come. Ive had it for four years and Im still always happy to see it in front of my house!

  • Sciontology! - 2006 Scion xA

After 18 months of ownership, this car still pleases and rewards on a daily basis. Gas mileage is a rock solid 35 in town and 40.5 on the highway. Its nimble, quiet and can take on almost any parking space. Seats are supportive. Driving position is upright and commanding. Radio sound quality is great. And with the optional side-curtain airbags and ABS, I have a measure of security.

  • Choose Options Carefully - 2006 Scion xA
    By -

Overall, the driving experience is a lot of fun as most of the reviewers have already said. The performance and handling are surprising given the statistics of the vehicle. Be wary of what options you pick from the dealer as they drive up price quickly and may not be the best value. More aftermarket options are available. The subwoofer was especially disappointing. It is overpriced at $425, it takes up most of cargo space, and it is way too BOOMY.

  • Great car with a lot of personality - 2006 Scion xA

I recently purchased a 2006 Scion xA and have really enjoyed driving it so far. It really is a good value for the money. Most of the creature comforts come as standard equipment, the build quality is excellent, and it is fun to drive. The gas mileage is also impressive.
