For 2006, the Scion xA gets a mild styling refresh that includes updated designs for the lower air intake, headlamps, taillamps, wheel covers and front grille. Inside, there is new seat fabric and the speedometer background is now white instead of last year's silver. The xA also receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xA offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. Finally, the xA's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.
- The cool stuff costs extra, modest passing power with automatic transmission, no cruise control.

Inexpensive, Economical, and a Blast to Drive - 2006 Scion xA
By Rich B. - March 7 - 3:30 pmJust hit 1,000 miles and one month on my Flint Mica XA and I am delighted with it. I love the exterior style and the stereo. This car came well equipped for a great price. I feel younger than my 50 years when driving it, my teenage daughters friends call it "cool", I keep playing Springsteens "Born to Run" - really loud. I pulled into a parking lot once and a woman had followed me to ask me about all about it. I love the peppy ride, the nimbleness, and the overall look and feel of the car. About 75% of my driving is in the 35 to 40 mph range - conservative driving, so far it looks like Im north of 35 to 36 miles per gallon. Economics aside, my xA is a blast to scoot around town in.

By souellette1 - January 11 - 6:57 pmMy sister had this car for 4 years before she moved to Florida, i was devastated when she took her car with her. When i drove it gas was 1.68 in 2006 (detroit area michigan), so i would put 5 in it and drive forever with friends and go see the area. i was only 17 at the time but it was AWESOME. The only complaint is that its TERRIBLE in the snow.

Fun to Drive, Great on Gas Needs Cruise - 2006 Scion xA

RPM at 60 MPH is 3000 and feels like it needs a 6th gear. Otherwise, make sure you order cruise. My 22 year old loves this car. Nice MP3 connection as well. Very comfy back seat, and versatile layout for storing groceries and cargo. Buy it, youll like it!!

By Sharon - December 20 - 12:26 amI purchased the 2005 Scion Release Series, with a 2.0 liter engine. There are only 1,700 of these cars made. What drew me to it was it already had everything I wanted in a Scion. Total cost $15,000. I took my car on a trip from Madsion, WI to Charleston SC, The car was loaded to the top. I spent $70.00 on gas for a 1,000 mile ride, impressive right? I had no trouble plowing thru the Smoky Mountains. This car is like driving a race car. I was burnin the track & takin names. Scion has a price point system. All Scions come base price and each extra costs a price, no running back & forth to a manager. It was the first time I bought a car and didnt feel ripped off!

By Arroyo - November 10 - 2:06 amI was looking for a small car that got great gas milage but not at the cost of a hybrid. I bought the Scion xA based on Edmunds.coms review. Im so happy I did. The car has actually outperformed my original expectations. It seats 5 people quite comfortably and the ride is surprisingly smooth for such a small car. The car is about 8 months now and I have had zero problems with it so far. I love it.

This car has been *very* fun to drive and show off.

Good car for long commutes - 2006 Scion xA
By melissa - July 12 - 7:46 pmWhile it doesnt have the power of my last car, a V6 Mercury Cougar, I knew I would have to make a trade-off for the better gas mileage. Mostly picked this car for the promised fuel efficiency but am a little disappointed in that area. Hoping the lower cost of upkeep will make up for the lack of fuel savings. Also, was a little concerned about the safety of such a small car, but had my first accident in it last month. After being side-swiped by a much larger truck, I was amazed at how little damage was done to the car. Mostly cosmetic. Not even a bump or bruise on me. Would definitely recommend it to anyone in any age group who wants something economical and still fun to drive.

Best new driver car and more - 2006 Scion xA

This was the first car I drove on the highway, and it taught me everything I need to know about safety driving. I bought it with 40,000mi on it and now Im up to 90,000. This car has taken 4 1300mi trips from Upstate NY to Florida, a trip to Myrtle Beach, monthly trips to NYC, weekly trips to Niagara Falls, and much MUCH more. It has never failed on me and I only had a minor issue (around a hundred bucks in repairs) once. Its a fantastic car and Im planning on driving it until it can take no more, which I know will not happen for another few years.

Best Deal for the Price - 2006 Scion xA
By johnleon - June 30 - 11:30 amI did a lot of research on all the new sub-compact cars on the market and found the Scion xA to be the best for the price. I especially like the fixed pricing where you dont have to deal with sales price haggling. I got the extended warranty that covers me for 7 years or 100,000 miles for an extra $1,100. This car really zips around town. I find no problems with the limited horsepower. It would be nice to have a larger fifth gear for the freeway maybe to push it over 40 mpg. The middle console was no problem getting used to. I think there is plenty of cargo room with the seats down. I was also able to get a lot of stuff (tools, jumper cables, blanket, towels) in the spare tire well. This car an A+.
