Saturn has upgraded the Ion with new fabrics, improved plastics and a new radio with MP3 and satellite radio capability. The electric steering has been revised for improved feel at highway speeds, while the sedan's five-speed automatic and the coupe's CVT have been recalibrated for improved gear selection and response. Finally, Saturn has installed additional sound-deadening material to reduce cabin noise. A Special Edition version of the sedan provides black exterior paint, distinctive 16-inch wheels and a two-tone interior.

Keeps going at 80k miles - 2004 Saturn ION
By wowd - June 13 - 4:40 pmI bought the saturn only because of 0% and it seemed "sporty". My wife loves the car. It is averaging 32mpg at 80-85mph on highway. Only been to shop once with a bad bearing. Still has plenty of pep, and handles great. Took on a 2000 mile trip, came back and had to buy another car. It was very uncomfortable on a long ride, great for commute though. My wife feels very secure and comfortable driving 35 miles each way to work. At 80k, still no shakes, rattles,or noises. Very impressed. Looking for car to make at least 200k miles, only money put in has been oil changes and had to replace tires at 30k. I bought good tires, andthey have 50k. Looking to go to 70k

Overall a great car - 2004 Saturn ION
By dagda567 - May 5 - 8:10 pmWe bought the ion for a nice, cheap car with good gas mileage. My fiance loves the styling and the interior, although to me the exterior looks kinda odd. The seats are fine for around town but i wouldnt want to take a road trip in it. The dash console position is strange but I actually kinda like it. Controls are all very easy to reach and the gas mileage is great. For an economy car it actually rides very nice. And GMs 2.2 Ecotec engine is absolutely flawless. I feel very safe with that engine because of its reliability record.

By Matthew - April 7 - 2:36 amI purchased my Saturn ION 3 brand new. This car has DEPRECIATED the worst out of any car I have ever owned. I was coerced into buying the Extended Service Contract being told I could turn it in later. Well the Extended Service Contract DEPRECIATES also. With only 22,000 miles on this car it is starting to fall apart. Brakes are going bad, the fan makes and irritating noise that they tried to fix but failed to do, etc. I should have spent the 20,000 dollars on a CIVIC would have been worth more than my Saturn which is now worth less than 10,000. I also had a new Toyota Camry, JUNK. Fell apart at 20,000 miles. Both made in America. Both JUNK. DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY

Love It - 2004 Saturn ION

Nothing can compare to the costumer service you get when you go to a Saturn dealership too. The best part is no haggling. While this if my first Saturn, in all liklihood it will not be my last.

By Frank ODonnell - February 1 - 2:00 amDriven for 5 weeks now, center mounted speedo was greatest concern, no problem in changing to watch from center of dash car rides great, quiet especially, shifts fine, comfortable and nice interior, great looks and great visibility from inside. A nice car which feels more expensive that it really is...........glad I looked before I bought a Ford Focus, ION is much nicer ride and drive ! Car actually rides and feels like a BMW.

Nice Improvements - 2004 Saturn ION
By Icedog 5 - February 1 - 2:00 amI thought the first year was good on the IONs, but, I had to wait till this year to purchase one. Boy am I glad I did. This year they came out with XM Radio,an improved interior,dash and lumbar support knob for my aching back. The cloth was also revised so that it doesnt look like @r*p. Overall I think its one of the best cars Ive owned.My wife just purchased one yesterday and she loves it too. Cant beat it.

Much more powerful, nicer ride, and cool features like restyling the dash and putting the cupholder lower than the a/c knobs so you dont spill coffee all over them!

Death Trap - 2004 Saturn ION
By Corey Arnold - January 15 - 5:06 pmThis car is a DEATH TRAP! It locks up when driving. Can not shift in and out of gears, especially when driving in rush hour traffic. Has been taken in a total of 36 times to dealership, and only when the warrenty was expired did they know the problem. The vehicle locked up while my little brother was driving and caused a horrible wreck, which landed him and the other person in the hospital. So long story short if you value your life and personal safety BOYCOT SATURN and their death trap vehicles.
