Overview & Reviews
Saturn has upgraded the Ion with new fabrics, improved plastics and a new radio with MP3 and satellite radio capability. The electric steering has been revised for improved feel at highway speeds, while the sedan's five-speed automatic and the coupe's CVT have been recalibrated for improved gear selection and response. Finally, Saturn has installed additional sound-deadening material to reduce cabin noise. A Special Edition version of the sedan provides black exterior paint, distinctive 16-inch wheels and a two-tone interior.

One Reliable Car - 2004 Saturn ION
By Mark3152 - August 4 - 10:40 pmPurchased the car new and I essentially live in this car. Driving for work through out the midwest 12 months out of the year. Currently has 221,000 miles on it, plan to keep it till it dies and dont expect that to be very soon. I truly believe in scheduled maintenance intervals. Most reliable car my family has ever owned. Ive thought about a new car but this is too good a car to get rid of. Thank you Saturn!

My Blue Saturn - 2004 Saturn ION
By Grammy - June 10 - 10:00 amI really like my Saturn Ion. It has sport car suspension and sport car tires. It corners very well and also has very good pickup, when needed. I feel safe in the car, it is fun to drive, the car wants to go faster. Its good to have power when I need it.

Not a bad little car - 2004 Saturn ION
By Some Kid - May 16 - 10:06 amGM/Saturn did a pretty good job with this car. About 60/40 driving conditions (city/highway), I get between 28-30 mpg. Its not a very fast car (despite the way Saturn designed the exterior) but it will get you to where you need to go while sipping on fuel. I do not like the interior. The rear seating of the 2 door quad coupe is unbearable and not comfortable for anyone over about 57" ish. Good size trunk space. The instrument cluster (speedometer and such) is in the center of the dash...kind of unnecessary. If you youre a commuter and arent looking for an over luxerious vehicle, this is for you.

My New Car - 2004 Saturn ION
By ddblyou - May 9 - 2:00 amCorners very well and is a nice car to drive to work. I have not had any problems to date and the sales people at Saturn dealerships are the best! There was no hassle at all.

dont waste your money on a saturn - 2004 Saturn ION
By lemon driver - May 9 - 2:00 amThese cars are poorly built and are a costly mistake to own. If you value your money and what something that will hold up, buy a toyota. Dont learn the hard way like I did.

Think hard before you buy the ION - 2004 Saturn ION
By Patrice Shields - May 4 - 10:00 amI purchased my ION in March of this year. I am already hearing rattling noise under the car. I also do not feel that it is a smooth ride. I am also furious because the seats are made of a cloth material that stain. I only drink water in my car and the water creates large round areas of discoloration on the seats and it doesnt come out. I am just disappointed in my new car.

A true lemon! Starting difficulties! - 2004 Saturn ION
By Mike S. - March 30 - 2:00 amThis is the car that killed Saturn. Mine was plagued with electrical problems: "Passlock" malfunctions made the car unstartable at times. (2 column passlock switch assemblies replaced and the problem came back a 3rd time. A $300+ dealer repair if out-of- warranty.) The sensor in the anti- freeze overflow failed. Left headlight problem due to wiring harness wear. Recall for turn signal mal-function. Noisy McPherson struts in winter. A harsh ride, especially in winter. Cheap- looking seats and interior trim. Only pluses: good gas mileage and no rust due to plastic body parts. A mediocre end to the Saturn legacy. Basically a small Chevy with plastic side panels. Too bad.

LUV IT, BUT...... - 2004 Saturn ION
By bwu-satern - March 27 - 4:00 amGot the Blue one. My first Saturn and Ive had it 6 months. I was in love after the test drive and purchased instead of the ION 3. By far the best seats(recaro) of anything I test drove. With a rebate and some other incentives, blows away others for under $20k. Sticks like glue on corners at 80+, stops quick, handles great. Mileage in the low 20s. Lots of cargo room and easy to load with the side doors. FUN, FUN, FUN.

Big car for little money - 2004 Saturn ION
By Harold - March 12 - 12:50 amI bought my Saturn ION coupe in June of 2004 and I love it! I never have had a problem with it outside of regular service. I just feel that for what I paid I have gotten alot in return. I especially love the interior design and sporty feel.
